It was heart wrenching when the Iron Giant was being attacked by the military whilst the little boy pleaded with them to stop. :( |
yep. I hated that part and could easily see myself as that lil boy

Hirokazu Koreeda's ''Nobody Knows''.

the parts in the Wrestler where the little kid was bored playing his old cartridge wrestling game....
and the parts where he interacted so damn awkwardly with his daughter and the part at the VFW signing show with the washed up wrestlers... that movie was rough. |
agree with the first ten minutes of up.
Also not a movie but Freaks and Geeks made me cry many times. |
7 pounds made me sob like a baby

The Wrestler made me laugh. It was so ridiculous.
|
i hated The Wrestler.
|
too real?
|
THANK YOU. It was atrociously, laughably bad.
|
"Fair enough."
|
what was "bad" about it? have you actually read about how old wrestlers end up? How most die destitute and half crippled before age 60? That movie was great stuff man.
|
It was boring and cheesy. I have been into wrestling for 20 years. Just watch Beyond the Mat if you want to see a documentary about washed-up wrestlers. Whatever aesthetic value that appealed to you, it didn't do anything for me as a film, it was just silly.
|
Beyond th Mat is not about washed up wrestlers, it just includes them as 1/3 of the story. the book is amazing too.
again, I think it is age that makes a difference atsonic. yr too young to honestly imagine yrself with adult children that want nothing to do with you, to imagine your life as WASTED already. You ahve it all ahead of ya. I am on my way to 40, and luck willing I will live another 40, but the age thing really adds new layers to the onion of perspective. I have talked to many local hipsters and kids and people I know and most under 30 did not enjoy the wrestler, while many over 30-40 really found it a moving and deep film. |
