even though tv in the uk is mostly disgusting shite, comparing it to every other country ive watched tv in......we are blessed.
we have the best comedy. terrestrial tv doesnt torture us with the same amount of ad breaks when a decent show is on...as say, america. god bless channel 4. being in nyc and watching goodfellas wthout them saying fuck even one time kinda ruined it for me. and it was about 3am. there were naked trannys dancing around on the other channel, but no, a gangstar couldnt say "fuck" how fucking stupid is that? |

Postman Pat, Postman Pat Postman Pat and his black and white Cat I almost completely forgot about that show. |
I knew someone once who looked pretty much exactly like Postman Pat.
Anyway, we are indeed blessed with a load of good comedy in the UK but apart from that TV is pretty bad. My guilty pleasures are Hollyoaks and the occaisional bit of The OC. I watched the first series of Lost but haven't bothered with the second. I just got someone to tell me what happened. |

Now dig it: I am not a God freak. Not even remotely. Not a believer. But I really, really enjoyed this show. It was the improbable demands "God" placed on Joan that made it compelling, coupled with themes of typical teenage angst. It was low-key about the religious aspect--more subtly humanistically spiritual than religious, really--right vs. wrong, ethical debates, etc. I think the actress who plays Joan, Amber Tamblyn, is superb. Unfortunately, like anything of quality on TV these days, it was pulled after the first couple of seasons. Here's a description from the official site: JOAN OF ARCADIA is a drama that follows a typical family facing atypical situations, not the least of which is their teenage daughter's conversations with God. A tough but soft-hearted police detective in Arcadia, Will Girardi (Joe Mantegna) dreams of providing a safe haven for his family and community. An outbreak of serious crime in his idyllic new town has challenged Girardi's desire for order, as have the ups and downs he faces with his family. Daughter Joan (Amber Tamblyn), an average teenager, has been acting a little strange. Most don't know that it has to do with the unusual way various people keep popping up, introducing themselves as God and then giving her specific directions to do things, such as get a job, join the debate team or volunteer with children. The appearances are hard for her to believe, even more so as she never knows who's going to turn up next. One minute it's a cute boy her own age, the next it's the lunch lady or a little girl. She'd been keeping it a secret from everyone, though she has finally revealed it to her artistic and generally sensitive boyfriend, Adam (Christopher Marquette), who believes she's been experiencing hallucinations. |
I probably watch way too much television than I should, here is some of the shows I regularly watch: Mythbusters, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (very funny), Last Comic Standing, Futurama, Supergroup, Reno 911, Chappelle Show, etc.

Is TopGear considered trash?

The presenter should be shot at point-blank range!! Utter filth. |
Old episodes of On the Buses. Modern trash just doesn't compare.
