Deerhoof - The Free Triple Live Album
It is indeed free! Or, more precisely, available for a name-your-price. Pay something, you bastards. It's 24-bit and everything! ETA: "The video is an unedited one-shot video of the entire performance, filmed by Beat Halberschmidt as he ambles to and fro behind us while we play: youtube.com/watch?v=1iUuFXKIeNQ " |

I'd like to think asking if I could tape them had something to do with this. |
![]() Hear The Children Sing The Evidence by Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Nathan Salsburg & Tyler Trotter two twenty minutes songs, mantra style as they call it. Only briefly listened to it, didn't have the time. But really liked it. reminds me of that autobiographical song by The Microphones that goes on forever or a laid-back Big Brave |

New Dale Crover album (Glossolalia, September 13) features Tom Waits. Impressive!

![]() Mono's new album Oath got released today. It's one of the last albums that was produced by Steve Albini. The first time I listened to it (while commuting back home in a large traffic jam), it was a bit boring. Then I turned up the volume and had another spin, the road cleared up and realized it's actually quite stunning. One of the better albums they did since a long time. Listening on headphones now, it's even better |

So he's got two solo albums ready. Next one next year? The price of the CD on Bandcamp is incorrect, evidently - it goes for $12 at the Sub Pop Megamart. I think somebody repeated the price of the T-shirt or something. |
"the next solo record after this one, recorded with Trampled by Turtles as his backing ban"
looking forward to that one ! I in general really hate those misformed vocals, but somehow when Alan does it it still works for me |

Sub to the Pop emailed me back - the CD on Bandcamp went from $29 to $12. YOU'RE WELCOME. :D |

The Rat Henry LP on Petty Bunco is probably my favourite new release of the year so far, and The Shadow Ring boxset is my favourite archival release.

The boxset is great and it comes with an enourmous book about the Shadow Ring. At first I was skeptical with the way the music has been collected, the CDs are not replications of albums and singles, but a roughly chronological (by recording date) ordering of all their previously released music (excluding the live LP, and The Klaus Canterbury 7" I think), and some previously unreleased, bits and bobs across the approx 10 CDs, Personally I think 3 CDs of pre-Shadow Ring material is more than is really needed, it could have been boiled down to 1 CDs worth and it would have been fine. But ultimately that's not really important. I was curious to hear how the music all sounded with a remastering but having listened now I don't have much to say about it, which is probably a good thing. I'd have to play the new versions side by side with old ones to see exactly how different they are, which I may do to at some point in the nearish future as I'm off work with a broken arm and have the rare treat of time to kill. |
