Spectacularly brilliant. |
|
The Damned had some great songs but were scuppered from the start by having a complete prat of a frontman in Dave Vanian.
|
i like vanian, leave him alone. he always puts on a good show.
|
So does the magician David Copperfield.
|
not even the same fucking ballpark, as samuel l. jackson would say.
the twattery of david copperfield far exceeds any member of any band ever. |
|
people get neg rep?
i get threats through pm. ---- anyhoo, vanian was funny until the early 80's, then he became kinda gutless; like he was the frontman because he was holding the mic but he should have been the bass player or something. |

the brillaintness of this kills dave vanian is an entertainer. |
I don't have favorite albums really.

I have that Rude Kids track at home somewhere - will try to remember to sort out a copy for you. |
Sandinista should have been a single song. The Clash should have just formed and never released a record.
|
Apologies to the Australians here, but The Saints were a mediocre pop punk band.
I've been listening to Sandinista this morning. Even now it's too daring for some tastes. |

I got neg-repped for saying that Beck is shite. I wish that you could neg-rep whenever you wanted 'cause I'm going to repeat it:
BECK IS FUCKING SHIT AND I HATE THE SHIT FUCKING SHIT CUNTFUCK MUSIC SHIT THAT THE FUCKING HIDEOUS TWAT STILL MAKES. SHIT!!! |
Beck is, indeed, shit. There's half an alright tune on Mellow Gold.
On the Clash/stodge front, let's remember that their most obvious, explicitly musical, influence was on Billy Bragg, the Jam, the Police and Rancid. Which probably makes them as responsible for comedy ska-punk as Madness, who are nearly never considered seminal. |

It was Toilet & Bowels. There. Now you all know. |

Which half was that? I must've been listening to the wrong half. |

Good God. I'm glad there's a computer screen between us right now. Otherwise I'd give you a jolly good punch on the nose for that remark. You really ought to be ashamed of yorself. |
My favorite punk albums in no order
Pink Flag - WIRE Suicidal tendencies - SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Walk Among Us - MISFITS Earth AD - MISFITS New Day Rising - HUSKER DU The Record - FEAR Minor Threat - MINOR THREAT Out Of Step - MINOR THREAT Black Dots - BAD BRAINS In God We Trust - DEAD KENNEDYS |
I think I am the only sonic boardie who loves FEAR
|
oh, and
BECK SUCKS!!!! I HATE HIM AND I WANT HIM DEAD! |
I had this misfortune to hear the new Beck single on the radio this afternoon, and can report it's up to his usual banal and turgid standards. Why doesn't he just retire and stick to hanging around with his Scientology comrades?
Any, back to punk/proto-punk - anyone got any love for Radio Birdland? |
Lists are no fun when they aren't in any order. It's the order that maketh the controversy
|
I love Radio Birdland! 1976, in australia, kicking out some fierce motherfucking jams!
|
There can be no true order. no way can I pick any punk record as the top one, they are all fabulous and insane for different reasons
|

No, but I'll name drop that I once worked in a shop with their ex drummer. |

Your failure to rise to the challenge saddens me Mr I. You of all people. A man I have always thought of with such fondness and respect. Such a very bad day for lists this has proven to be. |
I can list my favorite parts of female humans
the asscheeks the 'gina the lips the eyes the cheeks the smile the thighs the legs the belly the tit-tays those are in order |
the belly above the tit-tays? You maverick you.
|
The blonde above the brunette, above the mousey.
