![]() ok there are people where whose internet personas i positively abhor though. i don't know them in real life but i hope they are nothing like online. Quote:
see, this kind of thing is what i find gratuitously vicious-- but as long as we know it's a performance i guess we can just wait for the musical number? in any case, you're still one of my favorite internet performers regardless of how unutterably bitchy your act can get at times. yes, you, throwing sand in your opponent's eyes & biting people's ears like mike tyson, for your own amusement. but good job again in kickstarting the board-- 21 hours of thread and it already surpassed 120 posts-- that this is happening in the middle of august is quite a feat. |
We have been so bored thank you
|
indeed.
you even got jennthebenn posting here in the syg basement. thank you. |

In my opinion there is much more dull rock music than dull techno. Quote:

it was a joke straight up.
and purely in reference to the title of thread. next time I will mak3 sure to put a ;) tone is impossible on a message text |

Let's call the track we're working on: "Pop punk ambient polka slow jamz" then. |

He actually got pretty excited about the Jesus Stickers video I posted a while ago and even posted it to his -FUPPETS- blog, so I'd lie if I said he didn't care about any of our's music. But then again, that's not ambient. |

From a rave party, preferably. |
I ALWAYS listen to everyone's music they post on here.
I do enjoy some, and when I do I tell people. That does not mean that it is my fave thing in the world nor that I will find countless times in my life listen to it again and again. Everyone knows electronica is not my thang, but I admire the time and care spent in crafting tunes, regardless of whether I like the genre. However, I am definiotely not going to go out of my way to tell people I did NOT like their stuff. Music is people's baby, and creative work is deeply personal. |
But you said that you hate techno and other names. What's going on?
|
what happened to the glory days when music nerds could rant about what they love and rag on what they do not like without people getting all butthurt?
Just cuz I hates me techno music does not mean I am not gonna give it a fair shake and listen when a pal o mine puts their stuff out there for folks to sample. |
Syrfox & Atsonic (& Rob),
you happen to like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKd1U...eature=related because I do, very much so. |
My friend Jason is the biggest new order fanatic on the planet!!!!!!!!!!
man he creams every time anything new order is brought up. |

not just online, some people are more approval-seeking than others. it's evolutionary psychology: acceptance by the group means survival and power. so even though these are only symbolic interactions, they carry a psychological weight, especially when people can't detach representations for real effects (i.e., being "banned" is not like getting left behind by the tribe for the wolves to eat). since this is a kind of "community" rather than a random place, the bitchiness and sarcasm can have their repercussions and grow into stupid feuds, grudge matches, etc., over the years, which can make things unpleasant. nevertheless, i'm all for insulting people when they have it coming. shit, it's probably the only thing i'm good at, in here. so, i contradict myself, but only a little, yes? anyway, enjoy your thread. it's gotten funny, at this point. |

No me gusta. There are no musical surprises in it. The exact same melody line is repeated over and over again. it disappears for a bit, then repeats again to the end. The only part of the song that changes enough to be interesting is the synth high hat, and even then it is nothing special. just one man's opinion. I am not big on background music. You could have a conversation while listening to that track and not miss anything.. I want the music I listen to to effectively drown out anything else going on, forcing everything else into background, whether through volume, energy, complexity, rage, virtuosity, songwriting, intensity, etc. |

i hope nobody takes offense at this, but i think kraftwerk did a lot better 35 years ago |

Ok, can everyone stop sounding like my Dad please? For fuck's sake. Edit: Having said that, my Dad probably doesn't know who Kraftwerk are. Still... Also, it's not a great tune. But that's hardly the point. |

there's myriads of techno that departs from that, but that particular track sounded extremely retro and begged comparison. it's like having a band that plays like chuck berry, only not as well |
My housemate plays a lot of that sort of thing. You lose the urge to compare things to other things if you listen to too much of it.

im sorry about your desensitization program i think this thread made me wanna listen to autobahn. i have this ancient lp of it that cost me a small fortune in a new york record shop a few years ago. actually it was just $20. or maybe more. regardless. btw, i like derek's tracks on his murdochspace |

Daydream Nation is hugely over-rated. And I'm not saying that to be funny or whatever. SY is my favorite band. They have been for nearly what? 15 years. They have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better albums than DDN. And I wish people would stop using that album as their "defining moment' or whatever. It's a good album of good songs. But it pales in comparison to a lot of their other albums. Seriously.

how did I post over 5000 times and never once see this kinder, gentler place you mention? seems people were at each others' digital throats the first time I ever clicked to see what "gossip" meant, and I've never seen it let up for long. somehow I've made friends with a few people who used to hate me, but there are always plenty of cat fights going on whenever I look here. I don't post here as much as I did at one point, but then I was posting most when my life was kind of sucking in the meatworld. I have no expectations for this message board, so it never lets me down. |

That was pretty cool, if a bit too straightforward for me. I agree with whoever said it sounds like Kraftwerk. |

you speak a lot of truth, my friend. i salute you |
I'm sorry, I've been busy and have little reason to be on the internet except when my girl's at work.
that said, it's a time-honored tradition for message boards to be declared "dead" or "gone to shit". it's practically a requirement for continued existence. |
Quote:
shut up. it's a cornerstone in their career. Yeah they got better shit...but it still rocks...ya know? |

not so much. in fact, if anything has driven this board to shit, it's been his incessant whinging that everything has gone to shit. remember when he used to be 'fun'? you know, before the accident with the large stick going up, but never coming out of his ass? those where the days. the board wasn't so shit back then. |
