The reason I say Pelt is because (it seems to me) that's the kind of sound many of the loopy droney folks are aiming for, but fail to reach.

Savage Clone 09.14.2007 01:55 PM

The fact that the members of Pelt can each play the ass off of his instrument makes their potential for more interesting abstractions far greater than a lot of their contemporaries. Not that some of their "untutored" bretheren aren't making worthwhile music, of course, but part of the reason Pelt are such a powerhouse is due to their sheer prowess as versatile and dextrous players in whatever style they choose to work in.

are pelt even active any more, or has jack rose's solo career eclipsed them?

Savage Clone 09.14.2007 01:58 PM

I think they may be in remission at the moment. Don't quote me on that, though.

MysticalChicken 09.14.2007 02:44 PM

I forgot about emo. Fucking sucks. Although MCR's "Helena" was a guilty pleasure of mine for a while.

And I like french music. And by that I mean, I saw Amelie a few times and liked the music.

Toilet & Bowels 09.14.2007 07:23 PM

people who i can trust inform me that there was a lot of good french pop music in the 60s, i don't really know enough myself to back that up other than the sound track to Un Homme Et Une Femme being fantastic and a track a friend put on a mixtape for me by a guy named Joel Favreau

Cantankerous 09.14.2007 07:58 PM

hair metal
all metal actually

pbradley 09.14.2007 08:01 PM

the current trend of overthetop screaming followed immediately by bubblegum pop vocals is what has been annoying me most recently

Toilet & Bowels 09.14.2007 08:36 PM

pavarotti is dead so there's no hope left for opera now

Cardinal Rob 09.14.2007 08:39 PM

Does opera deserve all this stick?

The answer is no.

Yes.

Otherwise, stadium rock / cock rock.

I'll be sure to tell the hundreds of thriving opera houses across the world this when I see them.

thriving at the tax payer's expense

Not worst, but close: late 90s top 40 acts - e.g. Hootie and the blowfish, Sugar Ray, Barenaked Ladies, Smashmouth, Counting Crows, etc. somewhat enjoyable at first, but they played them ad libitum on the radio...

As good ol' Hank III puts it:

So I'm here to put the "dick" in Dixie
and the "cunt" back in country
'Cause the kind of country I hear now days
is a bunch of fuckin' shit to me
They say that I'm ill-mannered
that I'm gonna self-destruct
But if you know what I'm thinkin'
you'll know that pop country really sucks

The taxpayer is an idiot. He'd spend the money on trainers or Big Brother. That is why all people must die. I'll forward you the memo from my Blackberry.
