a toss between A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell of course. what a brilliant ending to such a shitty career!

I doubt I'll ever listen to them. Only because I don't wanna hear a band release an album 20 years after they were good. I'll only listen to Floyd of the 70's. Mind you this is my personal opinion no one elses. OK.

lechaoscestmoi 01.31.2009 07:32 AM

OK.

Youth_Against_Facism 01.31.2009 07:35 AM

And, The Wall, the one album you can never listen to in its entirety unless you own a bong the size of a mop!

lechaoscestmoi 01.31.2009 07:40 AM

my dad used to be into stuff like bowie when he was a teenager. anyway a few months ago he suddenly came home with a copy of THE WALL. we listened to it together and realized that it sucks. true story.

Youth_Against_Facism 01.31.2009 07:47 AM

Haha. That's awesome. I start listening to it and then get pissed of at how long it is and listen to something else.

Everything that came from Pink Floyd before The WALL is excellent. And WALL is alright in small doses.

I think I agree with you regarding The Marshall Mathers LP in every respect. Even if someone doesn't like it, it's hard to deny its influence. It's ahead of its time, even today. And again I think you can trace math rock and many other genres to what it accomplished. Obviously, those genres would have developed eventually but The Marshall Mathers LP was the first album to do that complex shit where everyone's playing in different time signatures and such -- except, you know, classical music.

It's just such a multi layered album full of so many amazing ideas.. I dunno. I love it. It's too long though, of course, I think it has to be. That's why it kind of overshadows all of Eminems better works ("Stan", "The Real Slim Shady", "The Way I Am").

I dunno, I don't want to wax poetic, Eminem is my favorite musician of all time so I just feel very moved to write a lot about him at any opportunity.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with people not liking him though.

It's a relief than Duran Duran are here to save NME's list.
and i own three CDs out of the Wire list. Am i hip radical enough?

GeneticKiss 01.31.2009 04:22 PM

The Wall is the last Pink Floyd album.

There are no others after that.

viewtiful_alan 01.31.2009 04:44 PM

The strokes in any top ten albums list.. what the fuck?

atsonicpark 01.31.2009 08:42 PM

Eminem kicks ass. He's brilliant.,

Listen to The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets. I prefer those albums to anything they did in the 70s (except maybe The Wall sometimes).

auto-aim 02.01.2009 12:22 AM

the fact that colplay is on there voids the whole list... it's enough to make you hate albums you actually like.

I have The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and I'll get A Saucerful of Secrets. I really meant just early Pink Floyd not just 70s. ;)

btw i was j/k, i really like DSOTM. it's one of those albums i listen to like twice a year, but when i do it blows my mind. overrated in the real world, but way underrated in the board.

Derek 02.01.2009 07:14 AM

DSOTM is honestly the most boring 'classic album' I've ever heard.
