I electronically share the tips of all waiters here at work and they all get the same, unless you are a manager, in which case your wages more than make up for it. Or if you are a kitchen porter, in which case you get paid more than the waiters anyway. The chefs get one share between them, if they are put on the tronc list by their supervisors. As I am the tronc master, I have to call a meeting every now and then to check that there aren't any problems, and more often than not there is a bit of aggro between the kitchen staff and the front of house staff as to why one area gets individual shares, and another gets one for all.

some people are dealt a shitty hand. so make something of yourself. this is america for christ's sake. don't rely on the government for everything.

I would rather my taxes be used to pay someone benefits ( provided they have some kind of intention of getting back into work or study ) than have people struggle and end up as drug runners or whatever they decide to 'make of themselves'

meh. It's so easy to lose everything. I just think it's wrong in a civilised society to completely ignore someone who through bad luck or misfortune has had to start over.

it's the same as having car insurance when you drive. if you crash your insurance covers your fuckup. when you show up at the emergency without insurance, and they treat you, and you can't pay, some other sucker is paying for it with their insurance.

i'm sure even at your age you've had the case when you needed coverage but you didn't have insurance and you had to suffer. it could have been worse and you might not be posting here today.

so, everyone getting insurance is like everyone paying a tax so we can all stay alive a little better. same as we pay taxes that cover roads, the fire department, the cops, food safety controls, etc, etc. *not having your own insurance is a threat to others*.
