The difference is that slow jam R&B is a very limited corpus, as opposed to a blanket prejudice which seemingly includes the majority of non-guitar-based rock music since about 1981. No-one really gets annoyed, you're just missing out on some ROCKING SKRONK.

don't get me wrong. i love noise music. but dissing a whole genre like this is totally stupid. totally stupid. because it shows your total lack of knowledge of the actual genre (no, not all techno is 4/4 four to the floor beats, sorry - and actually, most of the electronic music discussed here avoids those rhythms 99% of the time), because "bleeps" are only present in a part of electronic music, and especially because it shows you can't understand some people might like this as much as you love skronk - and some people may like both, and more. why the fuck should it be forbidden to talk about techno on a Sonic Youth board? Why the fuck? It's a fucking board? If you don't like a thread about a techno artist, why don't you just ignore it? It's not like if it was a newspaper with limited space and techno music took rock music's space? I fail to see how a few people talking about techno music could put a board to shit.

Sorry Rob, I like you, but that was probably the most ridiculous message I've ever read on any message board (and I've read a whole lot of "electronic music is inferior", "electronic music is cold and inhuman", "hip hop music is shit", etc on french boards), and indeed really, really close minded. And definitely something I didn't think I'd ever read on here, since, actually, I always thought what made this board special is specifically the fact that you can talk about seemingly any style of music.

Threads on here can be boring, dramatic, funny, disgusting, intense, and stoopid. Threads are born and then they die. Just like in real life.

Techno, I think it sucks, and it's not music designed to be listened to, but to make people dance, so they can focus on what happens on the dance floor without being distracted by the music. (Autechre doesn't fit in the category imo)

But to diss up a whole genre (in that case, any music created with electronic instruments!), say your favorite music is superior, and saying a board has gone to shit because some people talk about music you don't like is plain ridiculous and sheer stupidity.

I totally disagree with your point of view on techno music - I can listen to 4 to the floor EQ'd techno without dancing to it -, but at least you admit it's subjective and don't pretend everyone should stop talking about techno because of this.
