'Quality'? And are S-club not the absolute paradigm of good-quality breezy fun pop? If not, who is please? In 2500-4000 words, making reference to the cotton revolt of 1762 in Sheffield, UK.
|
Funny, but good breezy fun pop is, oh, say... The Vaselines. Not "ain't no party like an s-club party."
|
Eh? Eh? What? Really? Wow. That's an amazing choice. I'm astonished.
Edit: Astonished and amazed at the perversity of choice, in case anyone was wandering. |
Coolness?Me?you really seem to know me more than i do,sweetheart.

Ha. As I've said before, I'm well aware that Cradle are pretty much awful, and I the only defence I can make is that I enjoy them for their absurd portentiousness, much like meatloaf.

What? Who are you talking to? |
The Vaselines are way too 'self-conscious' to be defined as pop, though.Discussion not arguments.

Meatloaf is hilarious. In a so-cheesy-that-it's-fun way. "I was barely seventeen, and I was barely dreeeesseduh" |

I consider the Vaselines basically straight-up pop music. Pop can be pop without being "popular," right? Alright. Simple, three chord, love-songs = Pop

tee-hee-hee! In all honesty, I've heard maybe... one metal band I like. And it's Burzum... Every other metal act is just... "snooooooore." |
I know, I'm just making a generalization, is all.

I'm going to end up kicked up a hill for saying this, and then kicked back down for good measure, but I can't help but notice how American culture seems to allow no room for any crossover in tastes between mainstream and non-mainstream musics, while European culture seems to embrace that kind of a crossover, and sees no wrong in liking both sugar-sweet pop and weird-as-fuck rock. Any idea why?
|
Well, I'm Canadian, so I resent that American comment... though I ackowledge that you mean north america... right?
I think maybe the reason is that Europeans have trhe capacity to listen to utter shit...? Whereas us closed-minded, hip, young, impatient americans can only afford ourselves to listen to quality music. *note the dripping sarcasm, please+thanks. I don't want to fight with you though, sonicl. I like you. |

What I have heard from the Melvins annoys the hell out of me... sorry. I know what yr saying though. Metallica's fanbase nowadays seems to be 40 year old douchebags, and 13 year old "rockers." |

And let it be known that some of the best music I have heard ever has been coming out of Canada for the past 10 or so years. (Record labels; Constellation, Last Gang, Arts & Crafts, Alien8, [though they release alot of non-canadian music], I could go on...)
|
Yeah, maybe we take longer to grow up in Europe. Ha ha
|
Please, let's not have the "who started punk" argument again. It always ends in tears and acrimony.
