i'm eating my fingernails, as usual.
|
Fuck, munties like hell. A bowl and no lunch'll get'cha. Hah. Anyway, serious hunger....What to eat? FUCK!.
|
Right now I'm eating Betsy's hot spicy cocktail nuts.
In about 20 mins the doorbell will ring and it'll be the guy from the italian restaurant on the scooter with a portion of pasta penne al pesto, lasagna with 4 types of cheese and napolitana saus, and half a loaf of freshly baked bread. |
Pesto penne rocks. I used to make that where I worked. The best pasta ever, though, is farfalle in spicy bell pepper sauce. I don't remember what the sauce is called. I'm so hungry now.

I love the smell of freshly ground pepper. |

Burgers with a side of garlic roasted potato wedges and a fat bowl of weed for dessert.

Supper tonight is a glass of milk, and some pitta bread with salad.
|
Certainly they do. People who eat supper do, anyway!
|
Not in America. Only old people and people who watch Little House on the Prairie too much.
Which would be "at all." |
Dinner is lunch. Supper, is well...supper.
|
No no. It goes like this:
Breakfast Elevenses Lunch Afternoon tea Tea (light meal) or dinner (serious meal) Supper |
Dinner is steak. Supper is having a bowl of soup because you can't stomach a full dinner.
|
Supper is what you have before retiring to bed. Anything from a biscuit to a small meal, generally. Almost any kind of salad-based situation makes a splendid supper, I feel. Where cheese is involved, lashings of chutney is ideal.
|
So dinner is supper (serious meal) and supper is just a snack?
|
Dinner is a proper meal, tea is a light one, taken anytime from approximately 5pm - 7pm (the main meal of the day). Supper is partaken of late at night. It may be a snack, a small meal, or anything in between.
I rather sense that cultural differences are at work here. Soup for supper would be a ghastly faux pas; soup should only be enjoyed for lunch or as a starter at dinner. I'm rather partial to cream of asparagus, personally. |
Yes, so it would seem. I'm only familiar with breakfast, lunch (sometimes dinner), supper, and various other, spastic food orgies anywhere between breakfast and breakfast the next day.
|
Depends who you are, and where you're from, doesn't it? I've been mocked for using the word 'lunch' instead of 'dinner' by certain types. Tschh - bunch of savages in my town.
|
In America, officially, we have "breakfast" in the morning, "lunch" around noon, and "dinner" around 5-6 PM. Technically, though, each day is just one big meal.

Ha ha. That's certainly the recieved wisdom here. We're given to understand that American meals are rather expansive and robust. I actually prefer to miss breakfast (bar the obligatory cup of coffee, of course) and indulge in a slightly more serious elevenses instead. But that's not really the done thing, so don't rat on me to Mater and Pater, or they'll cause the most frightful stink. |
I don't like calling it dinner, it just sounds wrong.
Supper. |
HOT
|
That's about all they're good for.

A glazed Donut, but I need something better for this hangover...

Listening to Hair Police will rid you of that hangover in no time. I just made some blueberry, banana pancakes, and I must say, they had to be the best breakfast I've ever made. |

I was JUST thinking about Hair Police right before I read this post. I love fruit pancakes, I barely get them. I missed breakfast from sleeping in...it's the only day I don't have to wake up at 3:30am for work. |
3:30 for work? What do you do?
Yeah, fruit pancakes are excellent. Strawberry being among the best. I've already begun thinking about the many combinations of fruits I could use. |

"Only fat people skip breakfast". I never took you to be so refined. I've always had breakfast, dinner & tea (tea as in "Get us tea on mother"), with any number of snacks of any size in between. I've just eaten 2 chocolate biscuits & will have salmon for my tea when I get home. |

I do landscaping at a golf course. Work starts at 5:00am, and I have to bike there :(. I don't think I've tried strawberry before, but Banana Raspberry is excellent! |
