got my tickets in the mail today!

This Is Not Here 11.26.2009 12:50 PM

...'opened and read it said they were' ROCKERS

apologies that was awful

_slavo_ 11.27.2009 06:40 AM

so, how's the situation with facilities over there in the festival area? food is the thing that gets my special interest - is there any grocery store or something there? are the chalets equipped with kitchen equipment?
the reason i'm asking is if I'm supposed to carry any food with me or it's not necessary.

also, what to wear? is it cold in this location these days?
i've heard some news of Britain being especially windy recently.

EvdWee 11.27.2009 06:53 AM

you only need warm clothes from your chalet to the entertainement centre. all the stages are there...

you can buy food at a supermarket in the entertainement centre, but that ain't cheap. there is however a supermarket in Minehead (but i haven't been there last time).

depending on the chalet you booked there might be a kitchen (if it is self catered)

stu666 11.27.2009 11:58 AM

stage times now up here:

Guys check the ATP page, MBV are playing an extra rehearsal gig on the thursday night. You can pay a small amount to see this and get into your chalets a night early.

And slavo, if it'll be anything like it has been recently, bring whatever really warm clothing you have.

There's a tesco's and Mcdonalds literally 5 minutes walk from the place and a burger king in the place.

it depends what kind of chalet you booked if you have a kitchen. i would recommend bringing some food with you though as the only food available on site is junk food and eating that for three days might give you the shits

yes, yes, yes I wont miss LB. they play on Sat., well at the same time as MBV, but they play on Fr., Sat. and Sun. or is it going to be different color wristbands again? even if that, I've seen them twice this summer....

SY are on Sat. (it looks like it's) at 20:45 to 21:45. right time, but it looks like only an hour show.

hmmmm Primal Scream or Yo La Tengo? they're on in the same time. well I've seen Yo La Tengo this summer, never Primial Scream....decisions, decisions.

hehehe Sun Ra for a afternoon cup of tea....nice.

cheers for time schedule!!

Toilet & Bowels 11.27.2009 01:33 PM

the best news of the festival is that there's going to be some sort of the soft focus live event happening

This is awesome, thanks.

blunderbuss 11.27.2009 01:38 PM

Don't worry about bringing a ton of groceries with you, Slavo. There is a supermarket about ten minutes walk from the site, and I'll be going there most mornings to buy bananas, which are staple diet at the moment.

_slavo_ 11.28.2009 02:53 AM

cool, thanks.
so, MBV are playing every single night or am I getting something wrong here?

stu666 11.28.2009 04:42 AM

yeah every night, they're doing the wristband thing i think. you have to choose which night you want to see them. it's got to be friday or sunday though. can't miss lightning bolt

I don't think you get a choice, do you? You just get what you're allocated.

The Earl Of Slander 11.28.2009 10:28 AM

It says on the schedule site that you get a choice. I really hope you do. If I get allocated MBV while Lightning Bolt are playing I'll be mega pissed off.

Come rock out with me at the Scream. They've got a great live set these days, actually playing more from XTRMTR than their newer albums. Plus bear in mind their gig will almost definately feature Kevin Shields on guitar.

I'm still really torn on the issue, but I suspect I'll go with Yo La Tengo, as I've never seen them before and have always wanted too...

jennthebenn 11.28.2009 04:08 PM

YLT were one of the highlights of ATP NY in '08.

Wish I could be over there with you guys for this one...

pokkeherrie 11.29.2009 06:50 AM

I wish you could be there too, Jenn... it would have made great material for No Setlist Part Deux!

Even though, sure, there aren't that many "OMG AMAZING" bands there, pretty much all the acts will be enjoyable to see I'm sure, and hell, it's still 3 days of at least decent loud rocking music, in Butlins, which to me is a recipe for awesome under any circumstance. Quit yer bellyaching!

Yo Earl, I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish, but Thurston had one of the best ATPs of all time!!!!! Of all time!!!!!!!

Seriously though, don't let a miserable bastard like me ruin your anticipation. It's going to be a wonderful weekend.

ATP is awesome, always and ever.

Sonic Youth + Burger King = 2 of my favourite things. :)

jennthebenn 11.29.2009 10:37 AM

The first time I ever heard "Daydream Nation" I was eating Burger King food.

That was a loooooooooooooong time ago.

londondaydream 11.29.2009 11:31 AM

it seems I'm going to have a little trouble actually getting there.. all bustickets have sold out! Anyone driving from Bristol/Taunton or somewhere close? either thursday evening or friday would do.. Would be much appreciated!

Good news for you: at the Burger King stage you'll be able to enjoy your double whopper with extra cheese and twister fries while watching Sonic Youth from a distance.

I'm a bit surprised they're playing the Pavillion thing though, I was expecting (and hoping) them to play the Centre stage twice (with a wristband system) like in 2006.

At the railway station in Taunton you can catch a public bus (line 28), which ends right in front of the entrance of Butlins in Minehead. It takes about 75 minutes or so and costs less than 6 pounds.

londondaydream 11.30.2009 04:25 AM

ok, pfiew. do you think it will be neccesary to book train tickets for Bristol - Taunton?
UK railway system is soo confusing..

it's been a while since i last practiced midget throwing, so i'm worried i'll only be able to reach about 20-25 meters. that's not going to get you anywhere near the front. :(

_slavo_ 11.30.2009 09:54 AM

"midget throwing"
