I need green naturasl sticky drugs |
I just think most bands get worse near the end of their career, they lose the energy of their early albums period.
"You spend your whole life writing your first album." |
that is very true
bands may be together for years before that first album comes out and it contains years worth of inspirationa nd frustration and ideas and musical bits. the second album, for most bands, is written fresh from scratch, which is a bad idea, and which leaves you writing songs about how "hard it is" on tour and bullshit like that. after a while, when you are succesful, you try too hard, becaue how can you write angry rock songs or sad rock songs when you are confortable, living and eating well, and enjoying life for maybe the very first time? that is why popstars last longer than rock ussually. they can just keep peddling the same glossy feel-good bullshit with the same hooks all the time. |

That's an awesome quote. There are so many first albums that kick total ass. |

|
Probably PJ Harvey.
My friend's wouldn't be down. EDIT: They don't even know who she is. |
Sonic Youth
It's a secret somehow, cause a lot of my friends don't know that I listen to this band. Ok, They don't even know this band... Does it count ? |
I suppose it counts, but it is a damn boring answer. :p
|
Everything I like I make it known, I'm not ashamed of anything I listen to.
I like a few lilly allen songs. |

No. I don't listen to Placebo. And I never feel ashamed of the music I like. |
I like two of the Sex Pistols' post-Johnny Rotten singles - No One is Innocent, and The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle.

Melly true facts: I was in a guitar orchestra thingy with 1994, before anyone knew who he was - he looked "normal" too - no make up, dyed hair etc. I had a HUGE crush on him. Then when he came out with Placebo, I saw his pic, went "nooooo!", and my unrequited love for him died. Bastard. |

A crush on him ? |
Heckler Spray - yes, really. It was that (amongst other incidents) that made me slowly realise that I was gay after all. You know the feeling you have when you're knocked over by the beauty of a woman, to the point that you feel a bit shy just looking at them? Well, I had the gay version of that...I didn't tell a soul a the time, either - nothing to do with Molko, by the way, more to do with my very mixed-up feelings and emotions back then.
|
Funny you mention the Gilmour solo CD - I've heard bits of it sober, and felt that it was "tasteful, but a bit boring". Perhaps if I was more fucked up, I'd "get" it a lot more?
|
It's OK. Very polished (as you'd nodoubt expect). Easy to dismiss out of hand as mere wallpaper music for Q readers - which it is, basically.
|
new radicals....there, I said it.
|
hmm..
i still enjoy thrash metal.. megadeth and slayer.. i'm a sucker when it comes to guitar solos in early dire straits.. and i really like some of the sugar saturated pop that appears occasionally on the charts.. "toxic" for example, is a pretty strong song... i have a feeling, i'm going to crucified for my confessions now... |
yeah liking slayer...really shameful:-)
toxic is a great song and dire straits have sonme good tunes |
i secretly like EJST&NS and RR

I actually really love that 'You Get What You Give' song. |
They've got other songs too?
|
Quote:
is that the one where they slag off marilyn manson and courtney love? shit song. |
That's the one. Oh, is it? I liked it, but I'll make sure I don't from now on. Phew, that was close. Thanks!
|
i think 'rumors' is a pitch perfect album. but thats no secret. its fact.

yeah it is. |

i used to like it back in the 90's, but it was obvious the guy was an utter cunt, innit? what with the hat an all (makes me think, if he faked a few dance moves out of michael jackson's repertoire, he would have been a huge star, just like jamiroquai). now i'm sick of the song. |
so many people hate on jamiroquai
the world needs soulful funky dance songs that last 7 minutes and have 8 different changes and actually sound BETTER and make you dance MORE than most anything stevie (OVERRATED) Wonder ever put out. have you actually listened to songs in the key of life? so fuicking boring! so dull! |
jamiroquai is whiter than bobby gillespie.
|
The guy is, clearly a cunt. Isn't he some really successful songwriter or something? I think he did ronan Keating's Rollercoaster single which, isn't that disimilar in some ways.
New Radicals: http://youtube.com/watch?v=91WgM6dNLTE Ronan Keating: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xXhcHHOfRaw |
supa white, but his songs JAM, and they do so in the vein of the old soul funk masters and there is nothing wrong with that.
his hat however.... |
i'll say that the one album with "virtual insanity" and all those songs has some good tunes, but that guy with his shit ass hats and "i jack off to michael jackson's dangerous tour video" moves really makes me want to cripple him.
where's the twat thread when you need it? |
Even if I heard a Jamiroqui song that completely rocked my world, I'd never accept it. It'd be like falling in love with a child murderer. Some things you just have to supress.
|
do i have to like primal scream in secret? because i fully admit to loving screamadelica but i still think there is no bigger twat on earth than bobby gillespie.
|
i love vanishing point and xtrmntr and tons of their singles, and i absolutely know bobby gillespie is the biggest public cunt in rock right now.
if someone asked if i liked them, i wouldn't deny it. |
Primal Scream are a far better band than Bobbie Gillespie lets them be.
i can listen to a song like Country Girl and think, this is fucking great. If only they could find it in them to sack their singer. |
This is my first time hearing of this Bobbie Gillespie fella
