Nope. Its basically an eloquently written predecessor to the trash, throw-away romance novels of today.
But, while those have characters that some people get into, this book has characters so annoying and unrelatable that you can't help but hate them and not care what happens to them. Not to mention the annoying trait of saying every thought and feeling as if they were master poets, making everything unnecessarily long and drawn out, that all the characters seem to posess.

The plot is, at best, uninteresting and unsatisfying. Its artificially long, and imparts no lasting thoughts or emotions on me. Its basically a tale of immature assholes who try to use lost love as an excuse for you to pity them.
Bleh, shit.

It's the norm for books to feature different covers everytime they're reprinted, and I was lucky the library owned the 1972 reprint which features that striking looking cover. :)

Talking of great covers, this has to be my all time fave.

Morrissey's been having trouble of late on his tour. He was performing in the Liverpool Echo Arena when he was struck on the head by a glass thrown from the crowd. He left the stage, refusing to return. The gig was subsequently cancelled.

Two weeks previously he collapsed at a show in Swindon which led to the cancellation of the following night's gig in Bournemouth.

And just recently Morrissey had a fan thrown out of his Hamburg gig for upsetting him over something the fan said.

1 and 3 aren't anything surprising... aside from my not understanding anyone who pays to get into a show to heckle/throw shit. 2 ...:( Was this after being hit in the head?
