Thanks for that Unsane session!
|
For anyone interested in LP copies of these sessions... A bootleg outfit called Strange Fruit seems to be doing a pretty good job of releasing these on vinyl. I picked up their releases of the JAMC complete peel sessions and the Joy Division peel sessions. Pressing qualilty and sound quality are both very good, and my copies are on translucent red vinyl. woo hoo.

The Strange Fruit record label was set up by John Peel... |
Really!? Interesting... . So it's legit? The record store owner, usually pretty knowledgable, told me he thought it was what he called a "grey area" label, unauthorized but not quite illegal or something.
|
But anyway... I can recommend them. I didn't see any other Peel sessions on LP, just these two.

Hmm. The record company closed its doors in 2004, according to wiki. And yet my new LPs are on the Strange Fruit Records label, ostensibly. Which makes me think they are "grey market" records--that is, the label name is either under license by another company or is being used without authorization. |

there was this great booth in a flea market that used to have shitloads of those Strange Fruit pressings on vinyl when i was in high school in the early 90s. this was one of them i really wish i fucking kept. but i dont know what the hell the uploader is talking about. if there is 3 extra songs, then 1 isn't listed, because the first 6 were on the record i had. and there's only 8 listed. nevermind, i'll leave this to prove that i should read things a little better yes, technology is also making me stupid it's the first 5 songs that was the record. those albums must've been played at 45 (or at least that one) |
