You should have said Amputechture

acousticrock87 06.26.2008 08:26 PM

The Volta haters won't know the difference, and V'ia V'iaquez is timeless.

Sonic Youth 37 06.26.2008 08:28 PM

Yes. Frances is MUCH better than Amputechture. I have no idea what I was trying to say with my previous post.

The Glow Pt. 2 by the Microphones
MACHINA & MACHINA II by the Smashing Pumpkins

for me

Definitely agree on this one, as well as the Mount Eerie album.

I don't have much music from the 00's. The ones I would consider "classics" are:
The Strokes - Is This It
Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse
The Verlaines - Pot Boiler
Ed Kuepper - Jean Lee & the Yellow Dog

schizophrenicroom 06.27.2008 03:33 AM

KUDOS on the microphones.

batreleaser 06.27.2008 06:36 AM

'classic album' is such a relative thing, one persons classic can be anothers garbage. like above people are talkin about the greatness of 'frances the mute', id rather shit my pants on a blind date than listen to that record again.

ditto the microphones

I think that Kayo Dot in time will have the same effect as The Velvet Underground did in the 60s. There are already bands spawning up that are strongly influenced by them.

But ehhh I'm probably wrong hahaha.

super_charger 06.27.2008 07:19 AM

Kayo Dot is fucking boring.

Derek 06.27.2008 07:23 AM

You're boring.

super_charger 06.27.2008 07:26 AM

Oooh good one.

Derek 06.27.2008 07:33 AM

Yeah hahaha.

So, in what way are they boring, is it that they have a lot of random noodling in their songs or what?

super_charger 06.27.2008 07:43 AM

I think a better question is how are they exciting? But really it doesn't matter. For any 'classic' album that someone puts out there there's someone there to tear it down.

Derek 06.27.2008 07:48 AM

Well they are exciting for me cause I find them compositionally interesting and highly emotive.

But yeah, second part of that post is right. I mean, I fucking hate Doolittle but millions upon millions of people would disagree with me.

batreleaser 06.27.2008 08:17 AM

kayo dot is amazing, but the velvet underground? are you fucking kidding me? they are arguably the most important band of all time. no band could have the effect that they had.
