i'm a good lyricist though honestly i just want to sing and play bass and have the ideas, but someone else needs to make the ideas tangible because i have a lot of trouble doing it |

you could do a pj harvey, plan b; get a good musician (preferrably a multi-instrumentalist but a guitarist could do) and get him to write good music to go with your lyrics. |
Fuck PJ Harvey. Seriously. Reject her and all that she stands for. Whatever that may be.
|
You don't like PJ Harvey then, eh? *hastily puts together PJ Harvey wank card for self, plans to play it next time he meets dr666*
|
I don't get her at all. She's like the fucking Pixies. At least in so far as I don't get them either.
|
I like her loads, but then you know me *plays "rubbish music taste" wank card*
|
I've not really heard much by her to be honest. She just strikes me as being really boring. I'm sure she isn't but where would we be without unfounded prejudices ah?

We'd be Bobby Gillespie *shudders* |
"Sugar coated bullets". I mean. honestly!

Everyone on earth > Bobby Gillespie. I might actually buy the NME this week for his interview in it - I could do with a good "angrying up the blood" read.
|
Yeah. I think I'll pop out and buy it in a minute.
|
he's also interviewed in uncut.
i like pj alright though, i still like demon too though. |
I'm nothing if not likeable.

i just saw lita ford earlier this month - she was doing some secret shows under the name "Kiss me deadly - a tribute to Lita Ford with very, very special guest." she kicked total ass and still looked hot. she did not play "dressed to kill," though, which was my favorite of her songs. lita was not just about going to parties and not getting laid and getting into fights - she had some killer tunes back in the day in her solo career. for those who don't think so, wipe the cobwebs from your eyes...

Just came acoss this at work today; most complete and nicest copy I've ever seen. |
Yeah, it'd be interesting to know how you price that. 15 years ago their stuff was going for a steal. I doubt that'd be the case now.

My take on it is that P.J. Harvey isn't bereft of moments completely, but I can't say I'm into her music either. Pixies are okay-to-good-to-great. I kind of have to be in the mood for it, I suppose. I haven't listened to them in a good while. |

I think its relevant that both the Pixies and PJ Harvey came along at roughly the same time, a time when I was listening to other things. And so they sort of slipped under my radar a bit. The same with Pavement. I suppose I was on much more of a 'noise' kick at the time, which made the likes of P.J. Harvey, the Pixies not figure that highly in what I was after. As such, although I was around when they arrived, I've only really listened to them retrospectively. So my appreciation of them is rather skewed by that. |
