^ Yes. It's one of those album covers. Try Going Blank Again when you can. It's poppier. At times it reminds me of Teenage Fan Club in places.
I picked up Blank the week it came out back in 92 because I loved Nowhere and wanted something just like it. I was disappointed because it wasn't a Nowhere duplicate and I didn't appreciate it at first, but it definitely grew on me. I consider it one of my top favorites from the 90s. |
Going Blank Again is worth checking out as our the early ep's such as Play etc. Just stay away from the last 2 albums.

I've talked about them a lot on this forum. I think they're still around, aren't they? I have the LP they put out in 2010, Abyss in B Minor, as well as their 2006 debut LP. |
A band i've been listening to a lot later are Flying Saucer Attack. The first album has elements of shoegaze but remains very lo-fi at the same time. They recorded via a home stereo or so i've read. Nevertheless, the melodies are great and the sound really immerses you.

^ Love that photograph.
But this is really nothing new, is it. Just more repackaging, basically. I know some people are into getting the latest and greatest remasterings, but frankly, I seldom hear a whole lot of difference in even the best remasters. It would be a lot cooler if they'd issue some of their live stuff. |
New Young Prism's album is streaming, it's sounding very shoegazer at the moment

Ride's Nowhere has been getting me to and from work lately. I can't listen to that album enough. Even after all these years, it doesn't get old.

Nice reppin' of the new Young Prisms.
I found a leak. Also pre-ordered the LP. |
I haven't heard much good new shoegaze in a while a bit bored of bands just sounding like poor imitations of the original wave.
But I picked up this album this weekend, it's quite synth heavy but really nice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmoTSxhi2BU |
for post-90s shoegaze that actually ain't all that bad. never understood when the popular strains went all fey and 'emotional' when the power of a record like loveless lay in that it was really dangerous, sensory bombardment as opposed to wallpaper music with drums.

Should are mid 90s American slowcore/dream pop/shoegaze outfit, not sure if mentioned on this thread earlier. A folding sieve with all b-sides and 7" tracks is superb, such lovely textures and real slow grower melodies.
Boo Radleys Everything's Alright Forever and surrounding EPs are just about the finest Creation records have to offer. Vapour Trails on Nowhere, if I'm not ready for it, makes me actually literally cry. |
