This has been sat on my hard-drive for a bit not being listened to. It keeps varying between being good and being incredibly irritating. I wouldn't call it 'trad' particularly. I have better versions of all of these... sometimes I quite like the 'modern' 'lounge' 'jazz' arrangements, and there's some great bits with the brass going against the Uillean pipes... but I probably shan't be investigating further. Still, thanks for the up. |
Today is Thanksgiving Day in America, and it is one of the only days people remember the real Natives of this land (for all the wrong reasons). I thought it would be fitting to share some Native music. The page I will linked features music from the tribe in which my city is named after, the Omaha Tribe. There is wealth of downloads on the page and I encourage you to listen to some of them.

![]() http://www.badongo.net/file/1143480 here is a bit of blurb on it.... Africa - the dark continent of the tyrants, the beautiful girls, the bizarre rituals, the tropical fruits, the pygmies, the guns, the mercenaries, the tribal wars, the unusual diseases, the abject poverty, the sumptuous riches, the widespread executions, the praetorian colonialists, the exotic wildlife - and the music. As a follow-up to Extreme Music From Japan, Susan Lawly releases Extreme Music From Africa. Compiled and co-ordinated after exhaustive research through special contacts from countries as diverse as Morocco, Republic of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Uganda - and the Internet by William Bennett, this extraordinary compilation results in a totally unique vision of a totally unique continent. To hell with all the background information. Just turn the volume up, and dance like you're in a Cairo disco.

What a fucking beautiful cover!Thanks.
|
I'm very fond of that cover too. It was almost the sole reason I got the record, because I did not know Cheb i Sabbah was, but that cover really jumps out at you. I was thinking of making it my avatar for a while.
