I watched him "act" in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and enjoyed his performance quite a lot. First time in my life seeing him do something other than being the matter of discussion on this board on different occasions.
Go figure, we're way behind over here.

The guy's a total twat.

ALIEN ANAL 10.28.2008 07:52 AM

PAULYBEE2656 10.29.2008 10:08 AM

brand is funny but there is too much emphasis on cock juokes. his writing shows he is a highly intellegent guy and really could do without his cock jokes....

seemingly he is intensly shy and self decaptivating (thats not the word is it?)

anyway, andrew sachs must think he is a prick!! they are now banned off the radio until this stupid publicity crap is done..

200 complaints initially, 2000000after it went public..... ha! bbcs fault!

PAULYBEE2656 10.29.2008 12:59 PM

Did anyone see Rory McGrath on QI the other week? I was astonished to see him going head-to-head with Fry without the aid of cues. It's a shame that he comes across as a twat the rest of the time, because he was genuinely very witty on this one ocassion.

On the Brand furore - he was kicked off of XFM a few years ago for, if memory serves, smoking crack and inviting homeless people into the studio. His career was meant to be over then. I'm sure it won't make a sot of difference to his career.

And, personally (at this moment in time) I think he's capable of being funny, but has a terrible habit of indulging his own prickery.

I strangely warm to Johnothan Ross, though all evidence points to him to being a mega-douchbag. Probably why he's had a career this long. Brand can go west as far as I'm concerned, he plainly isn't funny.

I thought he was funny once. Then someone told me he was a comedian and I felt let down. Like yeah, but he's not THAT funny.

It wasn't as though this prank was any cruder than what they usually do on their TV/radio shows. It's just that The Mail didn't have anything to support their usual 'country is going to the dogs' Sunday story, stumbled upon it and decided to make it their headline (even though it was ten days after it was broadcast). It wasn't motivated by genuine outrage.

Indeed the public reaction isn't motivated by genuine outrage - it's more become a lightning rod for other issues such as anger over Ross' pay deal, Brand being on TV all of the time (he's overexposed; I'd like to see him return to stand-up).

It's all rather inconsistent. Why is The Mail rushing to defend Georgina Baillie? She is part of a goth/vampire/Burlesque stripper-group that The Mail would usually condemn. The moral compass is being shifted out of convenience.

I'm glad this has happened (I dislike Ross' humour, his fawning over celebrities, his nob jokes, his interest in Japanese toys - and Brand will survive anyway); it's the right thing for the wrong reasons.

I saw Kelvin Mackenzie give his view on the news this morning, decrying the sheer baseness of their actions. This is the guy behind the 'Gotcha!' headline at the sinking of the Belgrano during the Falklands Conflict: now that example of schadenfreude removes his right to take the sanctimonious highground on any matter, the cunt. Sums it up, that.

Andrew Sachs grandaughter is certainly milking the story for all she can get. I'm off to the bookies today to see what odds I can get on her appearing on some "celebrity"-based reality TV show during 2009.

sarramkrop 10.30.2008 08:44 AM

I got bored of him. I don't even watch tv anymore, so I don't know what he's up to. What is he up to? I've seen his face on the first page of a newspaper when I went to buy some milk.

I still can't stop laughing about those bands names, every time I think of them.

MellySingsDoom 10.30.2008 09:43 AM

sarramkrop - Those band names are so ace, it's untrue.

In other news, the powers that be at the BBC are meeting to decide whether or not J Ross gets the chop.
