Were those reactions coming from somebody on this forum? I wouldn't be surprised. |

your ability to continually miss the point of what people say as a means to avoid your arguements being discredited only serves to make you look increasingly stupid. just thought i'd let you know. |

I dunno, Live Through This doesn't really appeal to me. I get "pretty and brutal" from Pretty on the Inside. I mean, that part in "Mrs. Jones" is sooo purty. Quote:

I have genuinely never heard a better guitar sound than on that album. "Turpentine" especially.. the opening notes are just so sick and wrong. Listening to any of their early stuff while high is incredibly disturbing, by the way. It's a really creepy feeling. |

no problem, you've being doing it all through this thread and it's made you look stupid. |
it doesn't bother me or offend me, i'm just trying to help you.
i won't put you on ignore, if i did that i wouldn't be able to help you in future when you say something stupid again. |

Both of you so totally got it down. Thank you so much for articulating this point so well. Seriously. I completely agree with both of you. I wish you could see how big the smile of my face is right now. |

every musician i can think of was waaaaay better when they were on the bad shit. especially the smackheads. |

I'd say this one but you'd probably try even harder. You'll probably say something about others and myself trying to do the same thing...the difference is that we actually engaged with the discussion at hand without changing the topic/disregarding the points that were made or resulting to banal/inappropriate gestures. Once again, I seriously do hope that this is only an online persona.... |

You know man, influence is a really rad phenomenon. I'm not the only person who has been influenced by stuff of the past. And Girls Rock Camp is a direct riot grrrl influence....in 2009. But yes...I am, in fact, proud that am a current participant and occasional leader in a happening feminist community....in the real-o-sphere. One where we do more than scream and jump around obnoxiously. And I'm not the only person involved who lists riot grrrl as an influence. For yr sake....I believe I speak for others when I graciously ask you to stop. At this point yr arguments have failed to make any logical sense since you are refusing to actually engage with any topic. All yr trying to do is to be a jerk. But if you insist on fighting...the lameness is honestly kind of assuming. |

swa(y), you are being childishly obnoxious, here. |

And you were how old when Funhouse came out? |
so here's a conundrum, if someone was to beat you in the head with a hammer how many blows would it take to bash some sense into you? or would it leave you retarded, and if so would anyone be able to tell the difference? or would smashing your head with a hammer just kill you? and if it did kill you would that be preferable?

when did toilet bowls turn into such a smug-in-that-way-only-an-englishman-can-be-asshole?

http://everetttrue.wordpress.com/200.../riot-grrrl-1/
Some of demonrail666's posts reminded me of this (very long) interview with Everett True on the subject of Riot Grrrl. |
Quote:
I just skimmed that and I'll read it properly later but I think Everet True pretty much nails it. He seems to be written off by a lot of people but, during that period anyway, he was probably the writer best placed to understand that scene and definitely did more than any of other to promote it. His point about music being a distraction is especially interesting. |
Quote:
Have you paid any attention to anything he's ever posted on this board other than his pictures? He's always been a smart-arsed cunt. Which is arguably worse as he's such a handsome swine. |
I've always thought he was a smart and interesting writer. I don't get why peopel write him off. He was sort of pompous and assholish, but people on this site fucking read PITCHFORK and therefore have no right to complain about that.
