yeah there is a scene but it's more like another universe...the whole fashion world...not something i really care to involve myself with these days, but you should totally go. experience it.

you are making it sound kinda like a negative experience though. i understand being done with particular "scenes" as one individual changes and experiences new things. but couldn't you just go and enjoy the show/fashion? or are you implying that you would know people and be bothered by having to socially interact with them/their scene?

not trying to pry, i just gotta be sure this will be an enjoyable trip if i am gonna make the effort to be there

oh no i'm not trying to be all negative nancy about it, i just don't think that whole scene/clusterfuck/group of people/whatever has any real substance or anything, i definitely appreciate the clothes as art and i love looking at them but seeing it from the other side means knowing how elitist everything about it is and how wrong and fucked up the fashion industry can get.
and yeah i know some people that i don't really want to see but there are a handful i really like, as people, apart from their associations so if i'm in new york (doubt it but i will have to move back there eventually on a permanent basis) i will probably pop up at a few shows but i'm not really into the glamour parade all week anymore. plus there are other reasons i probably shouldn't be there...

you will absolutely have a great time though, because you have a different perspective than i do.

oh yeah i failed to mention that above all i just don't have any real interest in it anymore. not where my heart is etc etc
