Pfft.

And that ''Primitive Cool'' album is even worse than that one. Yes, I have listened to it.

gmku 08.05.2008 03:08 PM

Who in their right mind would even consider listening to a Jagger solo album?

Everyneurotic 08.05.2008 04:13 PM

i'm besides myself for the fact that space fucking ritual is on the top 20.

seriously, i didn't expected it.

and well, this thread is no fun at all "it should have been blah and blah at number one", shut the fuck up.

yeah, but if I look at the amount of points then it probably only took two people to get it voted into the top 20... I'd only be surprised if there were actually 10 people who voted for it.

On another note, I always wonder how much these kind of lists are influenced by current events... I mean stuff like Daydream Nation and Velvet Underground seem to be pretty standard choices on this board, but I suspect Loveless wouldn't be at no. 2 if it weren't for the whole MBV reunion currently going on...

I'm sure if you did this thing last winter then Joy Division would've easily made it into the top 20 because of the Control movie... probably even top 10. Same with whatever reunion happened to be going on at a certain time during the last few years that resulted in dozens of threads about said band. (2004-Pixies, 2005-Dinosaur Jr.... and the inevitable 200?-Pavement, etc)

Everyneurotic 08.05.2008 04:54 PM

so, recount and not do an eurovision-like rating system?

samuel 08.05.2008 05:10 PM

ew, boring #1
great idea and thread though

viewtiful_alan 08.05.2008 05:57 PM

Any honorable mentions that barely didn't make the cut?

The Earl Of Slander 08.05.2008 06:01 PM

Er...

Big love to anyone else that voted for On The Beach

Toilet & Bowels 08.05.2008 06:32 PM

i spent too long deliberating & i didn't get my vote in in time, not that it would have changed anything

1. sonic youth - sonic death
2. dead c - dr 503c
3. guided by voices - alien lanes
4. boards of canada - music has the right to children
5. windy & carl - depths
5. harry pussy - what was music?
5. dj shadow - endtroducing
5. bardo pond - lapsed
5. public enemy - fear of a black planet

alternatively i could have gone for this

1. sonic death
2. daydream nation
3. confusion is sex
4. badmoon rising
5. sister

radarmaker 08.05.2008 06:33 PM

demonrail - did anyone vote for Here Come The Warm Jets? That's the one I was kicking myself for not including.

Everyneurotic 08.05.2008 06:36 PM

i didn't think most people would take it that seriously.

acousticrock87 08.05.2008 06:38 PM

Jeff Buckley - Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk
David Bowie - Low
Nine Inch Nails - Downward Spiral
Bright Eyes - Lifted
Radiohead - OK Computer
---
I'm pretty sure that would have been my vote, or something like it. That's why I didn't.

Yes, loads. Your missed vote meant that it never quite made the hallowed twenty!

atsonicpark 08.05.2008 08:02 PM

Radiohead are one of the most boring bands I've ever heard, except Kid A. I appreciate them and respect what they do to an extent, but I just can't get into anything they do anymore.

pretty cool list, nice to see The Birthday Party in there as well.

I have no problem with Loveless being there either, I don't see any real "flaws" with the album, even now.
