it all depends on what colour wrist bad you have i hear. you are only alowd to see them once. this may be uter guff and i really hope it is but it might be a bit of a problem. the rooms only hold a few thousand so not everyone can see them at the same time. i dont want to spread any panic here, its just what i heard and i may be totaly wrong.

i wasn't planning on seeing sy or the stooges twice since there are way too many other good bands.

i just mentioned that i think i'm scheduled to see them on saturday and sunday as opposed to sonicl who's seeing them both on friday... and i'd be annoyed when they'd put sy and the stooges up against, say, double leopards or bardo pond when i can see them and them put them up against bands that i don't really care about anyway on the friday... like flipper or islaja (one of the worst gigs i've seen this year).

pokkeherrie 11.22.2006 11:58 AM

if you check their site regularly then i wouldn't bother about their mailing list. i signed up like 6 months ago and received maybe 2-3 emails during this time, always a couple of days after the same news had already appeared on their site.

lucyrulesok 11.22.2006 12:15 PM

the mailing list isn't really worth it, just check the site every so often...

it seems kinda crappy that they would book a venue that couldn't hold all the people there, there was never that problem at camber sands...

h8kurdt 11.22.2006 12:38 PM

16 days people!

Still pissed off about having to see both SY and The stooges on the same night. What the devil am I supposed to do for the other two nights? Get pissed? Preposterous...or is it?

whorefrost 11.22.2006 12:57 PM

i'm so excited about this, it's ridiculous

TIMES FOR THE XMAS EVENT

http://www.atpfestival.com/events/ni...s.php?view=519

Now you can start bitchin'

Cantankerous 11.28.2006 12:18 AM

i'm so fucking excited, especially in hindsight of some recent events.

jon boy 11.28.2006 03:55 AM

oh god. i am gonna have to do a lot of walking very quickly between stages.

pokkeherrie 11.28.2006 04:26 AM

oh christ... this is what i feared.
"my" stooges show clashes with jackie-o motherfucker and six organs/nnck. :(

...while the "other" stooges show clashes with deerhoof and islaja... neither of whom i'm interested in.

jon boy 11.28.2006 04:43 AM

there may be a lot of moaning but with all those bands there has to be some kind of clash and organising it cant have been that easy. its inevitable that some bands will have to ne missed (wipes tears from eyes)

i am glad that it starts later in the day though. gives me time to eat and relax a bit before the main event.

sonicl 11.28.2006 04:58 AM

Friday, 11.30pm: Bardo Pond vs Charalambides

Now come on, that's unforgiveable.

That's very true.
I'm actually in a lucky position to be catching a lot of these bands in London and Holland before and after ATP, so I shouldn't be bitching really... maybe I could even swap wrist bands with a Deerhoof fan just for the Stooges show.

noticed that one too right away... but thankfully Bardo Pond are playing in London on the 4th and Charalambides on the 12th.

pokkeherrie 11.28.2006 05:11 AM

well spotted.

i'm guessing they might be playing before blood stereo on stage 3 on saturday... doors open 45 minutes before every first show each day, but on that one it says that the doors open at 4.45 pm yet the first band would be 2 hours later at 6.45pm...

edit: actually i think they're playing at the blank line between new blockaders/haters and mats gustafsson+eye... there's a 90 minute gap now.

Aaaagh! Fuck fuck fuck!

I've just realised that I'm supposed to see SY that evening, so it's actually SY vs Bardo Pond vs Charalambides.

BASTARDS!

pokkeherrie 11.28.2006 05:22 AM

actually bardo pond and charalambides are playing during sonic youth on friday, not during the stooges.

(sorry for the disappointment this post may bring)

Yes, I realised that when I had another look at the timetable I set up for myself.

To make it worse, I'm not interested in seeing Comets on Fire or Magik Markers while SY are playing on the Saturday. I think I need to arrange a wristband change. Me and two thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine others. :( :( :( :(

haha, indeed... I need to find a Deerhoof fan who also wants to see the Stooges to swap wrist bands with. Extra difficulty with this is that I'm starting with the "wrong" wrist band on Friday and on top of that SY are playing straight after the Stooges that day.

In a perfect world I could immediately after arrival at ATP swap my starting wrist band on Friday to see the Stooges (I have no interest in Deerhoof or Islaja), then immediately swap it back afterwards to see Bardo Pond or Charalambides instead of Sonic Youth... Then I could see Sonic Youth on my "assigned" show on Saturday and wouldn't have to go to the Stooges anymore on Sunday which would free my time for Jackie-O motherfucker... In theory it could work, but I don't have much hope of succeeding. I'll bring scissors and duct tape anyway just in case.

Nefeli, I think they're in separate buildings (check the site of the butlins park)

me too. as far as i hear they are which is much better then having to dash between places in the rain.

sonicl 11.28.2006 06:56 AM

Stage one is definitely in a building on its own. I don't know whether stages two and three are together in the same building or not.

EDIT - Stages two and three are in separate buildings too. Don't forget to pack a raincoat, folks!

Iain 11.28.2006 07:02 AM

I have SY vs Comets vs Markers dilemmas but the biggest dilemma for me is Sun City Girls vs Gustaffson/eYe vs Blood Stereo!

pokkeherrie 11.28.2006 07:04 AM

go here.
http://www.butlinsonline.co.uk/index...20051116188172

in the skyline pavilion there's one stage.. in the building behind it (the one that has "entertainment" written on it) are the red stage and a center stage... the one in the skyline pavilion is called center stage too

Do you want to swap SY evenings? That would (partially) resolve your SY vs Comets vs Markers dilemma and my SY vs Bardo Pond vs Charambides dilemma all in one convenient go.

jon boy 11.28.2006 07:07 AM

they have 10 pin bowling!

Yes, indeedy! If I knew how a bowling league worked, I'd offer to organise one.

jon boy 11.28.2006 07:10 AM

we should just play. because the bands start late we could do that then check out the noise.

I think that the Crazy Horse stage is in the "Bars and Pubs" area.

jon boy 11.28.2006 07:13 AM

i dont think any of us will really know until we get there.

To be honest, and I know this is heretical around these parts, but my main dilemma here is between Comets and Markers....do I stay in stage 2 and see Comets or try and muscle my way into the Markers on the tiny stage? And SY clash with Bardo and Charalambides on the other day which is almost the same dilemma for me. I really don't think I'll see SY at this fest...have seen them before and haven't seen any of the bands they clash with...

jon boy 11.28.2006 07:18 AM

the place is haunted you know. all those red coates that died. so i hear. at night if you listen you can hear them shouting hi-de-hi in a ghostly way.

*note* unless you are british and of a certain generation you probably wont get that joke, my apologies.

sonicl 11.28.2006 07:21 AM

Will there be redcoats? And redcoatees? (Slight Billy Childish influence there ;))

Iain 11.28.2006 07:23 AM

Thee Redcoatees...that should be the Butlins house band.

with a name like Crazy Horse you'd think so, but when you click on it it doesn't mention a performance stage though... just
Sun and Moon Pub
Bar Rosso (oh la la!)
Hotshots Sports Bar
Jak
Swinging Shillelagh

I'm guessing two of the stages are in the entertainment building, but that's just speculation....

Should I start a wrist band swapping thread?

jon boy 11.28.2006 07:40 AM

as long as no car keys change hands.

pokkeherrie 11.28.2006 07:50 AM

...or chalet room keys.

eeew, that would get nasty.. SY board members swinging at ATP.
