is that the same as live at the sit and spin (official release)?

might be same show, but not likely same rec.:p and, this is a 2 cd live set, so should be somewhat longer than the LP. |
;).
Wacked and wonderful describes them in a good way! I love the Girls. 330 003 Crossdressers, Horse Cock Phepner and Dante's Disneyland Inferno are probably my favorite albums of theirs. But really, they've done so much great music, and I've only listened to a tiny bit of their discography.
Anyway, they're amazing. |
been listening to you're never alone with a cigarettes single volume 1 a shit ton lately. such an amazing cd..
if anyone's on cinemageddon, i put up all their videos. it's like 4.2 gb
Sev Acher's a cover? that kind of bums me out. But they do some great ones either way. I like how they're really obscure, from my perspective anyway.

wow that apna desh video is amazing. although yeah, it bums me out to find out that it was a cover. but they do it so well.
gotta love them..... |
Hate to say it, but a lot of their best songs are covers -- Shining Path's another -- or variations on some classic obscure middle eastern song they're referencing... they do do the songs in radically different ways of course.. but yeah I always assumed the melodies were stolen..
apna desh is probably one of my favourite songs by them
in ten minutes my radio show starts and you can hear a SCG song towards the middle- we are doing a show only of bands that refuse to play in israel and they belong to that elite group.
http://132.64.181.110:8000/listen.pls here is an email from alan bishop from a year or so ago Hey Elie thanks for writing The band reads this---I'm the only one here actually I dont think we could ever go and play Israel Its such a huge problem for us as I'm sure you understand.... Its too bad--I know many people there would support the show. I wish things were different Perhaps in time things will change-who knows? We can only hope for the best as always. Thanks for asking! AB/SCG |
If I had to have it any way with them doing covers, I guess it'd be that way. Covering ridiculously obscure indian songs instead of more recognizable songs, with the exception of the Midnight Cowboys From Ipanema album, which has that badass Fly By Night cover. And also the majority of the time they mutilate the song beyond recognition. Except Wild World of Animals, that's pretty much a carbon copy of the original, with maybe reduced reverb.
i enjoy their good the bad and the ugly, and black dog covers a lot.

Goodnite elixir Bengali sipping on his soma, floating late night in a Calcutta codeine coma. With a flashlite in one hand and a bottle of cough syrup in the other, stumblin' thru the Kali temple looking for his mother.

Eh, figured I might as well put up my rarest item...
ALVARIUS B - THE DEMON 360 (original version of blood operatives of the barium sunset) Never seen this on slsk or blogs. But.. hm.. not going to say how I got it! ...it features stripped down versions of Blood Operative songs, as well as a GOD ONLY KNOWS cover, an SCG song from one of the cfr radio sets, and 2 other never-before-released songs. Been stashed away, somewhere, since like 2001. You'll probably never be able to find this again. As a bonus, I threw on Alvarius B's track from the Jack Rose tribute as well. Enjoy: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ze4wco |
I get quite a few results from soulseek haha. Thanks though.
for the album, not just the song? I've had it on my wishlist for weeks so I could get a decent rip of it, and nothing comes up!
But if it is coming up, what are their titles for track 6 (which I labeled HUMAN POLICE) and track 9 (which I labeled UNTITLED)?
One other thing, this is the most insane SCG thread on the net, and probably the best thread on this site! Video links, tabs, rare albums, lyrics, etc.! I've seen threads for scg on 4 other msg boards and they last maybe 2 or 3 pages, this has 14. Wow! Pat yourself on the back, guys! And myself!
I listened to Alvarius B "Blood Operatives" yesterday and it might be my favorite thing in the whole SCG catalog.
yeah, it's sickening how much I love alvarius b solo in comparison to the rest of the scg (and solo and side project) discography... and I've heard everything..
Get the UNCLE JIM's TRUE CONFESSIONS album sometime, though, that's definitely one of my favs.. |
Will do.
The only truly good Sun City Girls thread should be one that's as long and twisted as their catalog. This thread is what made me a SCG fan.
I've only just begun to expand beyond the straight SCG canon and explore some of the side projects. Salvador Kali has been incredible. |
YES!
Final album, out on Abduction, out October 2010.
be prepared. (thanks threelobed for the info) |
YES!
kinda pissed to learn that Rangda isn't playing Boston...i might have to travel west for the show.
So is this last album still going to feature stuff from Gocher? Will it be made up of recordings before his death? I'm interested, can't really find out much about it.
Yes, I've heard they recorded this before his death; they supposedly have tons of tapes of them jamming and whatnot, but this will be the last official studio recording.
What's the Eastern instrument in 'And So The Dead Tongue Sang'?
On closer inspection it could just be a saxophone or chanter.
"On closer inspection, these are loafers". |

I dunno but I'd love to know. I love that song. So eerie but hip. I always imagined it was kind of like the instrument they use in this video at 1:16: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Fz8w2SNPog But I'm probably wrong. |
is it the instrument used in every secret chiefs 3 song ever?
Like I said, it might be a chanter:
http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=J8oQ...eature=related I think it's some variation of that... |
Funeral Mariachi will be released at the end of September on vinyl.
The basic tracks were recorded back in 1997. It will be the last proper Sun City Girls' studio album, but there will be more material from the vaults released in the future. |

Rick joins Jeff Tweedy on stage @ the Solid Sound Fest for a rendition of "Tennessee Porch Swing."
![]() at the press conference i asked who was the person who asked Rick to play as part of the festival, and if that person was also a SCG fan. Tweedy answered that it was him, and that seeing SCG play w/ JFA scared the shit out of him. review and photos of the entire shindig here: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/soli...ival-of-music/ and a shot of Rick prior to his solo performance (which included 'vinegar stroke,' 'abydos' and 'esoterica of abyssynia') ![]() |
holy shit, amazing!
