I've only ever been to one gig in Paris, SY at Cite de la Musique in 2005, but I was delighted to be at a gig where everyone seemed to be there for the music. Just about EVERY gig I go to in London is ruined for me by loads of idiots who only seem to be there to socialise.

If SY announced they would be playing a show in Paris I would immediately sell my ticket for the London show that I booked for and buy one for the Paris show instead.

me too! ...maybe if the thursday tickets dont sell out too fast i can find away to get together another £26. but it is worth it to see the same concert THREE times?

i think it is

greenlight 03.17.2007 10:54 AM

what, 3rd. show in London?

Nice comments about that Rolling Stones/Led Zeppelin "theory". I'm confused a little as well.

ithinkimissyou 03.17.2007 04:47 PM

just got tickets to the thursday.. i missed out beforehand. im over the moon. it almost makes up for the rugby.

man, with a bit of luck i should get to see them at EP if they do in fact play.

holy fuck, i have never been happier.

my life is a god damn fuzz between sonic youth gigs

Or you could even attend both, that's another option :)

Though it seems they're rather playing outside Paris this summer, that festival in Cergy and Istres amphitheatre near Marseille...

Im pretty annoyed about this too. But on the other hand, all of us there on the second night will be the ones who were in there straight away. I only want to see one show, considering itll be the same set i dont think its worth it, even though this would be my first SY gig. Id go to one of the other ones too if it was a normal set.

screamingskull 03.19.2007 10:10 AM

i have tickets for the friday and saturday, but now they have announced the thursday gig??, do i go or not???? I really want to see them on the opening night!

GrungeMonkey 03.19.2007 02:17 PM

Is it sad to wear a SY t shirt to an SY gig? Oh well, I'll wear my Mudhoney one instead...

raging_nelly 03.19.2007 02:27 PM

The Oxfam Glamour Models shall be emblazened across my person on the Sunday night... unless I get a better t-shirt before then... which is likely...

it's not sad, pretty mush 75% of the audience there was wearing sonic youth shirts, a nirvana shirt at a sonic youth gig would be blasphemy!!!!

EvdWee 03.19.2007 07:52 PM

why would you be wearing a sonic youth shirt to the concert? i guess they already know you dig sy.

you're the man if you appear wearing a beethoven or prince shirt.

(i normally wear my I Am Kloot shirt.)

auto-aim 03.19.2007 08:14 PM

YES! sonic youth, I love you! Really thought that I had missed this show....

fluxequalsrad 03.19.2007 08:20 PM

I hate people who have a problem with people wearing the bands shirt to their own concert. Its like 'I'm holier then thou because I didn't buy a t-shirt/I own one, but I conciously left it at home.'

its no big deal.

If I see someone in Toronto wearing a Washing Machine around town the day of the show, I can go up to them and talk to them about SY.

NWRA 03.20.2007 06:20 AM

I'm travelling from Leeds for the show on 31st Aug., can anyone recommend some accommodation close to the venue? are there any large, affordable hotel chains nearby, i.e., walking distance (or is this laughably idealistic)?

Sorry, I've got no knowledge of the area at all.

sonicl 03.20.2007 06:25 AM

I'm fairly certain that's been covered in the thread already.

Welcome to the board, by the way.

Thanks!
(I'll have a search)

ithinkimissyou 03.20.2007 03:25 PM

I'll most likely either be hostelling it or staying in some very very cheap hotel. Think the holiday inn was mentioned?

I had to book the tickets since they don't deliver to Ireland which is irritating the hell out of me. Would like them in my hands.

Also - the t-shirt thing, I just have to laugh. Yeah, I'll be wearing a one.. in the vague hope that maybe someone will spot me wandering aimlessly around camden and we can talk about the gig or something.

amyvega 03.20.2007 06:34 PM

they'll be doing this in nyc right?.......

right?

:(. he probably has one of those phones that can change the pitch of his voice.

syd67 03.20.2007 11:46 PM

just purchased tix for the Chicago show! this will kinda make up for the fact that I didn't get to see them last year. did anyone score XRT tix to the Double Door show last year? anyhow, I'm psyched!

scottheron 03.21.2007 01:02 PM

Incidentally, does anyone know what happens with support bands at the Don't Look Back shows?
Will there even be one? If there is, will they play a standard set, or will they announce another band playing a full album of material?

greenlight 05.15.2007 01:07 PM

I have one extra ticket for friday show (in the end). would anybody be interested? I'd sell it for the same price I have bought it.

Danny Himself 05.15.2007 02:13 PM

Friday in London?

k-krack 05.15.2007 02:30 PM

Fuck, screamingskull, I HATE YOU.

sonicl 05.15.2007 02:58 PM

I'm not sure if I'm going to go any more. I mean, it takes nearly half an hour to get into London on the train, and... oh, I dunno, it just seems a little bit too much like hard work. I might stay in and watch TV.

screamingskull 05.15.2007 06:12 PM

maddog 05.28.2007 05:50 PM
