The only way this would be funny at this point would be if it were Cantankerous pretending to be DNA in the westernplayedoutquinrocks. That would be the best joke the board has ever seen. |
yeah this board's dead.

When, I ask, was this message board a great utopia of liveliness? I fear that harkening back is not unlike the conservatives who rail for a "good old days" that never existed. This board is as fully functional as it ever was, which is all a message board can really ever be. Let us especially not get nostalgic in the face of played out jokes that really weren't that amusing the first time around. |
Actually, as much as I respect and cherish your opinion and think you always have something noteworthy and interesting to say, in this case I completely disagree; this board used to be booming with life... humor... interesting threads... it seems that a lot of energy has left this place. It's a lot more mean spirited (and yes, I'm like 1% to blame for contributing to the meanness). And whereas I used to get on and there'd be 3 pages of threads every few hours, now if I get on, like, once a day there's maybe 25 topics going on and that's about it. It's really weird, and it just seemed to happen recently with departures of certain people, not to mention the trolls and so on.
No big deal, it's just a message board, and I don't really care. Just something I and a few others have noticed. |

wow.. don`t tell me have listened to all these recordings so many times that you actually are able to make a top 100 list... me life feels quite dull and empty now.. but I see you have listed Motorpsycho, so that meens you must have really good taste.. they are actually from my local town i Norway, and I have been following them since the early 1990`s... anyway; WOW! |

I do see a decrease in traffic very recently, especially after the trolling incident from that other board. However, I can't say I find it any more or less mean spirited than when I first showed up not that long ago. I try to stay out of that shit unless somebody wants to debate ideas instead of typing TWAT with more capital letters than the other person. But it's always been here that I've seen. Pretty soon Sonic Youth are releasing a new album, and this board will likely be overrun with new people who want to discuss the band. The board, if not this forum and the Non-Sonics one, purports to be for that purpose after all. |
that said, westernquinoxrocks' message still made me laugh a lot this morning when I woke up

Some of those records I've listened to 15 times, some I've only listened to once. I didn't put a lot of scientific thought into it or anything. And I'll probably change my mind, like I said. |

i'll make my top ten or whatever after i hear a few more albums. like the hospitals and the new finally punk ep that's coming out around halloween. i just ordered the new deerhoof. i'm almost more than certain it'll be on my list since it is deerhoof.

nice to see a couple of irish bands kicking in ac top 100...
there is a new album out by a bunch of lads from my hometown of wexford. real good math rock shit... waiting to get my hands on a proper copy but it sounding excellent... they are called adebisi shank and are worth taking note of.... |
It always kind of amazes me when someone puts like his top 100 list of record he's/she's heard in that year/century/whatever so far and the way he/she distinguishes between the quality of, let's say, #94 and #95 ...
Weird. Takes a lot of thinking, I guess. |

yeah ive grown to like thier pop songs. i still like 'terrorbird' more, but 'hillyh' has grown on me big time, a lot of albums have grown on me this year. besides this, the abe vigoda record and the ponytail record also changed from me not giving two shits to me loving those albums. |
Actually slavo it didn't take almost any thinking past a certain point. It's not supposed to be a list to be analyzed or even taken seriously. Its just a list of good music from this year to check out. No scientific thoughts behind it. But I did do a lot of switching around to get to a point where I was happy with it. And probably still will.

think about lists too long and you will never get one done.....

Factums-"Lost One=Most Slept on Record of the Year.
Just picked this up on a whim after hearing some previous stuff of the band, but WOW! This is a doozy. This record is an amazing combination of modern Noise, Late-Kraut synths, Punk Rock squalling, and an Art Rock vibe that brings to mind a revamped version of bands like Pere Ubu and Chrome. Great record. |
i like

im on the fence about the new aids wolf.
|
I heard the new religious knives recently.. well there are a few.. but "the door" and it was okay. I'm surprised no one on here is jacking off to it; Thurston produced it, right?
Also.. AIDS Wolf has a new one? Guess I'll listen to it with an open mind even though I don't like them. |

Yeah, it blew my mind a little bit. I've listened to it maybe 10 times. I dunno if it's his best, but it's really good...
He's only 27. Definitely a musician who I can see eventually becoming the best in the world if he continues at releasing this much quality music at such an accelerated rate. |
ca't stop listening to Wavves
