Is Biden really a serious contender for the Democratic nomination?

Seems like a fair question. Thoughts?

Skuj 05.01.2020 01:34 PM

Hey, we started the other thread eons ago, and the incompetent Dotard is now POTUS!!

Go ByeDon!!

Boy, do I love voting for a mentally-deficient rapist to be the president of the United States.

tw2113 05.02.2020 01:20 AM

I mean, there are other options than the "primary 2" and if everyone who actually didn't want either of those, actually voted like that, a major upset could potentially occur. At least if you're in the US and not Australia :D

choc e-Claire 05.02.2020 01:25 AM

yeah, the problem is that the system's irrevocably cooked over there and it's impossible to properly hook enough people in for an all-or-nothing situation. Being Australian, at least we've got a good voting system - the problem is the shitsacks that we have to choose from.

I used to think he was a joke until I heard about him standing up to Corn Pop.

_tunic_ 05.02.2020 02:44 AM

It will be important who he will choose as vice president. He wants a woman by his side, I hope he learns from the selection procedure for Palin :)
Dutch press last week mentioned these five:
1. Amy Klobuchar (59)
2. Stacey Abrams (46)
3. Kamala Harris (55)
4. Gretchen Whitmer (48)
5. Elizabeth Warren (70)

My preference would be Whitmer, especially because Trump has expressed his dislike for her, and she's doing good at handling the corona crisis. But I have no clue, I don't know any of them well enough.
I could paste the whole article but I'm too lazy to copy/paste every single paragraph.

And now there might be another candidate: Megan Rapinoe. Dutch press said it was serious, most US press says it was a joke. Let's see, but she's definitely too inexperienced for a political career at this moment.

Did Bernie drop out too soon?
NO = the Dems never supported him.

How long can Nancy stay “satisfied” with her endorsement of Joe?
”Joe Biden is Joe Biden”......will there be others?

Could Bernie resurface as the Green Party Candidate?

What a world we're living in where it applies to both.

EUGH.... politics bleghh.

Skuj 05.02.2020 05:04 PM

There's a lot of talk about Dems double standard with Kavanaugh vs Biden, but I happen to think that Dr Ford was compelling, and Reade....well....isn't. I hate saying that.

demonrail666 05.02.2020 08:56 PM

The hypocrisy charge has nothing to do with the credibility of either claim, it's because the Dems were all too happy to endorse the whole '#BelieveAllWomen' thing when it suited them, only to then jump off of it when it didn't. You might have your own reservations about the 'BelieveAllWoman' idea. I know I do. The point is the Dems didn't, until it was suddenly directed against them. If that's not hypocrisy, what is?

Skuj 05.02.2020 09:08 PM

You do have a point, and I cringe when I look at my previous post.

But Dems pushed for an investigation after Ford, and that got seriously curtailed. Are Dems pushing back on any kind of investigation now? I can't help thinking that those shouting "double standard" are overlooking some things.

When explained like this, it’s so easy to understand!

choc e-Claire 05.02.2020 09:51 PM

Yes, but the same applies for the other side.

Whatever, US politics is a total shitfest and the sooner your country falls apart the better.

They've done all they could to bury this. That's party politics. It's horrible but we know that's how parties work. The point is it's the Dems who set themselves up here, when they wanted to appear above all that by endorsing an unequivocal position that we can now see was anything but. None of which has to alter your views on Trump, but nor does it have to mean making excuses for the Dems, either.

Except it doesn't, unless I missed the moment when Trump came out as a champion of the #metoo movement.

Skuj 05.02.2020 10:35 PM

You can do anything when you are a star.

Skuj 05.02.2020 10:38 PM

I think that part of all this is what baffles me the most.

Ok, perhaps the arguement can be made that Dems stepped in it with their stance on Kavanaugh vs how they treat the Biden allegations.

Meanwhile, Trump is POTUS.
