Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity
So, I've been listening to the new deerhoof lp and I love it. The only thing is I wish that it was longer. I think that they spoiled us with Runners Four because there was so many tracks on it.
Anyone else heard it yet? |
I've heard '+81' and it's great.
anybody got the mp3s? and is this out on vinyl? i went to KRS the other day and found CD only. perhaps i may have been drunk. but if anyone could help, i'd take a picture of them when i go see them in phoenix this march. or something. eh????
I have '+81' if you're interested. Instant message me on AIM.
oh thank +81 is on the KRS site & i got it but i wasn't too completely bowled over & i was hoping for more goodies. i guess... i love those guys so much i'll order the record anyway, as a show of good trust. or maybe wait to buy it at the show.... hm... maybe it will be on vinyl.
thanks for the offer, much appreciated though. |
Dude, I signed on to AIM for you and everything! :p
heeee :D
I have the CD... it kicks ass. Very funky.
I pretty much like every track, although the last one is a little long in my opinion. My favorites are The Perfect Me, +81, The Galaxist, Choco Fight, and Matchbook Seeks Maniac. Kidz are so small is fun too. |
It's decent. Though it's no Apple O'.
Rather the poppy Deerhoof album! Nothing too weird until the sprawled-out opus of a finale, which I enjoyed best.
It's probably a grower, however. I think I'll hear more and more clever little touches with each listen. That's the beauty of this band. |
ive been listening to it for a few months now and it is a great album. its the album which might tip them into the semi mainstream a la flaming lips, who they of course toured with last year. its by no means my fav dh album but i really really like it!
Some days I love it, some days I don't.
I love it. When I listen to it, I hear bits and pieces of old Deerhoof in Friend Opportunity. It's like they took everything they knew how to do and put it in one album. I think the most notable thing (regarding Chris Chohen's departure) would be the lack of high pitched noodling, but the rest of the band deals with that nicely.

shopping shoppers!!!!

I love the way she sings that!
It's not bad. On the same level as an Apple O', not as good as Reveille or The Runners Four. It's more efficient, more refined, slicker production. A part of me still yearns for their noisier jams of the past, but this is good in it's own way. That "If I were man and you were dog" song and the last song are my favorites. The only song I really dislike is that ballad-y song, track 6 I think.
the galaxist really does it for me. great track.
The last track is an instrumental for some play or movie or something like that...either way, i'm digging it. They're still getting better and better live too, this material especially.
Ive seen Deerhoof live, and loved them but ive never gotten around to buying anything by them. i might start with Freind opportunity.
Woo-hoo! Deerhoof play London in May, a few days before my birthday. I'll be there.
