Shelley is Ringo, Ranaldo is Harrison, Moore is McCartney, Gordon is Lennon. It kind of fits doesn't it?

I always feel there's a kind of detachment in their music, it's not personal, which I feel the same about the Beatles.

I wouldn't say they're the Beatles of our generation...the Beatles, while amazing, were straight pop even in their experimentation. Sonic Youth, while amazing, doesn't have that wide appeal.

The Beatles sure do kick ass.

Um maybe Nirvana, but only ironically in that Kurt Cobain died young whereas The Rolling Stones are all well into their old age.

nirvana are nowhere near parallel the awesomeness of the stones.

What is then? You can't blame me, I was under pressure, that was the best I could do with the material and the time I had, I'm stressed, I don't get paid enough, I work long hours, my wife doesn't love me, my kids are out of control, please don't fire me.

God, each band is distinctive, with an array of influences. No one will be ever the same as the other.

i think SY would actually be more like the stones. going forever. being awesome. the beatles broke up (stupidly) after a pretty short time..
