What do you think of sweater jackets?

yay or nay?

ploesj 01.05.2009 10:43 AM

do you mean the jackets with a sweater hood attached, so it looks like you are wearing a jacket over a hoodie?

i don't really mind those, although i like the real thing (an actual hoodie and jacket). if you take these off, you suddenly see he or she isn't wearing a sweater at all. or maybe wearing two which has no point again.

floatingslowly 01.05.2009 10:48 AM

unless it's a hoodie (made by Dickies), sweater jackets just aren't gangsta enough for me.

o'connor 01.05.2009 10:54 AM

yay. i even like those old people ones too. f'sho.

Anything you have to ask, it's best to assume the answer will go against you.

Aah, zip-up cardigans. I own two, and I feel very uncool when I wear them. I prefer the traditional button-up V-neck cardigan, but the general concensus seems to be that they should only be worn by people who are drawing a pension and eating a Werthers Original.

ploesj 01.05.2009 11:25 AM

ooooh those. i don't mind them. the one you have looks really good gmku.

gmku 01.05.2009 11:27 AM

I heart j. Crew. They do great things with classic looks. I just wish I could afford more of them. I usually shop their sale items only--this is the first time I've purchased a J. Crew item at full retail.

I also have their shawl collar cardigan, a dressier thin cardigan, and this thing. I do like a good sweater or two!

So not true! As stated above, I own two button-up v-neck cardis, a bulkier shawl collar version and a thinner dressy kind. They are very cool at any age, in my humble opinion.

ploesj 01.05.2009 11:30 AM

i shoulg get more sweaters, or warm clothes in general. all i can do in winter is wear five layers of summer tops or t-shirts and throw a cardigan over it.

too bad i can't stand wool on my skin, i love the lok of pretty knitted sweaters...

gmku 01.05.2009 11:32 AM

Yeah, get the right kind and you can dress em up or down. I often wear my cardigans with just a t-shirt and jeans, but I can also throw them over a dress shirt and slacks for a fancy restaurant date or whatever.

Like Starsky, you mean?

gmku 01.05.2009 11:36 AM

The best ones have been trimmed down a bit since then. Mine's like the one Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royal, like the one at the bottom of this page: http://gentlemenstandard.blogspot.co...-cardigan.html

i wear mine with my dresses very often, sonce they're all summer dresses i turn into winterish ones with tights and cardigans.

i barely ever close them though.

the latest one i bought wat a dark blue one with white polkadots, from comme des garçons for H&M

i generally dislike wearing knit goods. there's a place for sweaters, but in my world, sweaters gotta know their place and keep within their bounds. that's right-- no knit pants, shirts, jackets, underwear, floppy hats, "sweater hybrids", handmade scarves, etc. no. maybe a knit cap (black only), maybe some wool gloves when necessary--end of.
