what the FUCK is up with my amp???
ok so ive been playing for 2 years now on the same amp, probably every day of those years ive been fucking with feedback and smashing the amp. now it seems to be fuckin up. whenever i turn on my wah, the amp just dies. i swapped the cable twice and it still didnt work. but when i put it in my other gtr it started working. wtf? and then i pout it back into my main guitar and it started normally. do i need a new amp?

Your wah isn't plugged in backwards is it?

if you been pushing the amp too far then you will undoubtedly screw it uo over time. they can only take so much. if its quite old then it could just be that the solder joints have gone dry and need a bit of attention. from what you say though it sounds like yr amp.

This is most likely the reason, I think. |
what? what do you mean backwards?
|
Backwards as in wrong. Are you going into the output?
|
the wah just says amlifier, thats where the cables in. (i get mixed up with output and input a lot)
|
I don't use pedals. I'm too gangsta. Maybe someone else can help you.
|
dude but i dont know cause when i turn it on (wah) the amp dies as i said before and then i turn the dist and the wah off and its still dead. and when i go to the gain channel on my amp it works perfectly.
|
Plug your cable directly into the amp. See if that works.
|
i did that too. didnt work
|
sounds to me like your wah might be screwed up. I'm having the same problem with my chorus pedal, and I thought it was either the amp or my guitar, but I've sorta figured out my chorus is screwed up. so it might be the same deal, I don't know

His pedal isn't broken. It didn't work without the pedal.

You should have said, "Don't you know answering a question with a question is lame?" |
Get rid of your wah pedal. Nobody likes wah anyways.

This is very true. Unless you happen to be Japanese. In which case you are mysteriously exempt from the universal law: Wah = Shit. |
You guys are crazy.
Wah pedals can be used in a whole lot of ways. Mick Ronson had his on all the time as a tone controlling device, and barely ever went into "wah solo" mode. I think Loop used wah very well too. It's like an e-bow; lots of people only know how to do one thing with it, but there are a lot of possibilities there to explore if you take the time to develop some finesse and technique with the thing. I don't use mine all that often, but I'm glad it's in the chain. |

I think it's the age-old thing of for every one decent use of a pedal, there're a million shit uses. See also: Delay/ ring mod. |
See: guitar.
