favourite pop song?
There's always that one you hate to love, but love to hate, yadda yadda...
EDIT: ok we really just love them... My vote goes to Toto- Africa I LOVE THAT SONG. http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZxheuICZQ...related&search= There I said it. Who's next? |
The one I love to love is the great Duel by Propaganda, from 1984.
|
Right now it's Belle And Sebastain's 'Lazy Line Painter Jane'.

|
this thread is getting boring since i've no time to check those links. whatever...

![]() I use to have a serious crush on Claudia Brücken, for some strange reason. Good choice with Duel. |
Quote:
I'd heard that Claudia had done something with Glen Gregory of HEaven 17, but I don't know if that's true. She did something last year with Andy Bell (of Erasure) - I think it was a couple of duets on an LP of his. I've never heard it though. That MES stuff would be much appreciated. |

You know, my two teenage pop crushes were two of ZTT's artists at that time; from Propaganda I much preferred Suzanne Freytag, second from right: ![]() The other one was the very nice Anne Pigalle: ![]() ^That's another one of my favourite singles ever. |
I still keep track(stalk) Claudia here
|
Is she still married to PAul Morley, do you know?
I think Suzanne went back to being a jeweler. |
The excellent 12" of Duel:

whatever happened to ya kid k?
|
What is ya kid k? Is that someone's name?
|
this beat is technotronic featuring ya kid k. do you remember? it was really funny totaly 80's shit.

I remember Technotronic.

That's a shame about the marriage. Paul Morley is still a very cool bloke in my opinion. Reading his sleeve notes for ZTT at the time did helped to increase my thirteen-year-old vocabulary. I'll have to try and listen to both of the collaborations. |
Speaking of Paul Morley, The Art of Noise - 7" Close (to the Edit)
Other versions of the track: 7": "A Time to Hear" 12": "Close (to the Edit) (Extended Remix)" 12": "Close Up" 7:37 12": "Closely Closely (Enoughs Enough) 7:11 12": (picture disc) "Edited" 5:32 12": "Close-up (Hop)" 5:10 12": "A Time to Clear (It Up)" 5:05 12": "A Time to Hear (You're Listening)" 3:27 12": "A Time to Hear (Whos Listening)" 3:25 Green label 12": "Untitled version" 7:38 Cassette single: "That Was Close" Wiki |
Quote:
You can add Closing to that. It's a short version (approx 1'30" from memory) that kicks off the auperb compilation ZTT Sampled, and features Morley uttering the words 'spanner in the works'. |
Didn't know that Paul Morley was also credited with steering the marketing and promotion of the phenomenal early success of ZTT's biggest act, Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
|
Paul Morley and Trevor Horn controlled everything. It was a source of discontent, and was why the Art of Noise left ZTT. Shame they did, because thier subsequent releases were bland as a result.
Morley wrote all of the extensive sleeve notes that accompanied ZTT releases at the time. |
Interesting.
This thread is giving me the urge to make a synthpop tokomix. |
I like that song that goes:"love me love me say that you love me tutututuuuuutuuutuuu"
|

EDIT: oh, my 666th post, that song is evil... |
