Billy Corgan you fuck

"People dont fall in love to Pavements music, they fall in love while listening to Smashing Pumpkins." -Billy Corgan

What a self centered dick.

king_buzzo 02.04.2007 04:35 AM

yes he is a dick, but i've been listening to gish these days.

ZEROpumpkins 02.04.2007 04:41 AM

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Pumpkins fan, but that's such an immodest thing to say.

fishmonkey 02.04.2007 05:16 AM

Pave got their say also..

"out on tour with the smashing pumpkins, nature kids, they dont have no function. i dont understand what they mean and i could'nt really give a fuck"

Yeah, I noticed. I'm listening to the deluxe edition of CRCR right now. Damn even the B sides are excellent. Imagine if they released it as one giant 50 something song album. Quality and quantity ;)

Danny Himself 02.04.2007 10:08 AM

Bah, who cares? It's all dead and buried. Malkmus and Corgan both have superiority complexes, albeit, one worse than the other. At the end of the day, both bands were great.

(albeit, one greater than the other)

(pavement)

There's this new band called the youtoos who're going to be big. And I reckon young Michael Jagger's going to go far.

atsonicpark 02.04.2007 03:49 PM

he also said that no one wakes up in the morning humming pavement songs.

then he proceeded to base the bass line and drum beat from "1979" on husker du's "what's going on" for good measure.

also, who wrote the title of this thread? courtney love?

porkmarras 02.04.2007 03:53 PM

Past it will never be past it,it seems.Done and done and done and done with it.I assume the person who started this thread really is Courtney Love and lives in this ever so tiring rock n roll drone that came about 4000 years ago.

atsonicpark 02.04.2007 04:11 PM

Hahaha.

Or, as I should have said, "welcome to 1993."

kingcoffee 02.04.2007 04:26 PM

Man, Smashing Pumpkins had some realy good stuff, and they may have sold a lot of records and everything, but tthey werent nearly as good as Pavement. Billy Corgan thinks he's hot shit when he's really only room temperature vomit.

king_buzzo 02.04.2007 04:29 PM

he looks like uncle fester when he's bald

hmmm. Never noticed that.

check it out.

evollove 02.04.2007 08:22 PM

Your all missing the point of the quote.

Because Malmus indulges in irony, non sequitors, word play, etc., however much we may like Pavement records (and I do a whole lot), there isn't the "personal meaning" that is the Smashing Pumpkins way of being.

That's all. Pavement=entertaining, SP="meaningful"

That being said, I'll take Pavement over SP's "message" any fuckin' day of the week.

Toilet & Bowels 02.04.2007 08:48 PM

but if we can find meaning in the surreality of pavement it means we are super clever and sophisticated, mais non?

Indulges in irony.Pfft!

k-krack 02.04.2007 08:57 PM

The Smashing pumpkins are hardly "meaningful." Great band, but it was just phony angst!

my boredom has outshined the sun. It's so dumb.......... I just want to have some little fun

Festers quest. What a shitpile of a game that was. It had sounds, music and enemies ripped off from blaster master, horrible controls, and it was fucking impossible. I can't believe Sunsoft made it, they had some of the best for the nes and snes ( that would explain the blaster master stuff )

my sentiments exactly. I never really gave a fuck what Billy was singing about, cause it was mostly annoying angsty bs ( although rhinocerous had pretty cool lyrics ). But I'll always love that music. Pisces Iscariot and Siamese Dream go together like pizza and soda. Gish was excellent too. Snail should have been a hit of theirs.

Actually that's kinda funny, as I had Stop Breathing in my head all day, and I'm pretty sure I hummed it once.

And as for the bass line and drum beat part: yeah?

Rob Instigator 02.05.2007 12:06 PM

smashing pumpkins suck

Oh, I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. Fucking Pavement SONG TITLES are more more interesting than "The world is a vampire" for example, only they're more elliptical.

I guess "personal expression" is not related to quality. Morrissey lyrics don't bother me, but Corgan's do. They equally have their hearts on their sleeves, but Moz has the benefit of also having a brain in his head (as well as a sense of humor).

High quality can come from anywhere, the "surreal" or the "heartfelt," Michael Stipe's murmurs or Lennon's cry for his dead mother.

zedius 02.05.2007 02:23 PM

Smashing Pumpkins were really fucking good in almost everything they ever did. I have yet to get into pavement, but from what I have heard they are an entirely different thing.

Billy Corgan may be a dick, but he's a talented dick. He and Jimmy Chamberlaine can really bring a song to life.

Danny Himself 02.05.2007 02:33 PM

Not into Pavement yet?
