Super Bowl

I have it on, but I'm not really watching it. Uh, go Bears? I think. Not sure.

I hate people who watch it just for the commercials. I mute them. The commercials, that is. Not the people.

Discuss.

Savage Clone 02.04.2007 06:35 PM

Is that today?
I had no idea.

nomadicfollower 02.04.2007 06:35 PM

It's on here, but I'm not really watching it either (I usually don't get into it until the second half).
Damn! Touchdown Bears!

noumenal 02.04.2007 06:36 PM

Hahahahaha. That was so awesome. Maybe this'll be a good game - lots of scoring. I think I dislike the Colts because I used to be a sort of Titans fan. Or maybe it's the uniforms. I must sound like a woman.

nomadicfollower 02.04.2007 06:39 PM

I'm not a big fan of the Manning family. Or Payton, at least.

nomadicfollower 02.04.2007 06:44 PM

Pick by the Bears!
Lot of action at the beginning. There may be no need to watch the second half.

atsonicpark 02.04.2007 06:52 PM

I'm from Indiana and I couldn't give a fuck less.

Walter Payton? haha

Marino remarked in the pre-game that in his three coin-toss warm-ups that Indy had won every time, so naturally, during the real coin toss, Chicago wins it; Devin Hester gets kicked to and goes all the way. This is an exciting Super Bowl!

atari 2600 02.04.2007 07:03 PM

Somewhere Romo is smiling with that bobbled snap on the extra point the holder made.
I knew something was about to happen, that the rain had to take its toll somehow on that drive. An amazing effort from Manning and the Colts though.
It started raining steadily just as the
game began. It's raining pretty hard right now, but I expect it will let up shortly.
---
Oh yeah, you just knew M.M. would get one just like he did with the Panthers.

atsonicpark 02.04.2007 07:05 PM

Funny how the colts have done so well this year after not doing well at all and not ever making it to the super bowl before -- in the year when they're about to get a new billion dollar stadium built for them.

val-holla-ing 02.04.2007 07:30 PM

i was going to watch the 1/2time performance, but i don't feel like getting out of bed.

noumenal 02.04.2007 08:15 PM

You should check it out - the Prince symbol shaped stage is awesome.

Holy nut balls, he's playing some foo fighters....

the ikara cult 02.04.2007 08:25 PM

Oh man. Prince was amazing except for playing the FOO FIGHTERS???
Purple Rain whilst its pissing it down looked great.

atari 2600 02.04.2007 08:28 PM

floored---that was a blow away

atari 2600 02.04.2007 08:41 PM

Prince has played in Miami at the Orange Bowl Stadium (across town) on Easter Sunday, 1985 (Jehovah's Witnesses have no weekly appointed day of sabbath hehee)
...and The Revolution played with him.
But just like he did tonight (albeit in more abbreviated "Super Bowl medley" form),
he played this one first:
Let's Go Crazy (5:58)
http://www.badongo.com/file/2164084
and this one last:
Purple Rain (19:52)
http://www.badongo.com/file/2164185

---
I imagine the torrent for tonight's performance will be at dime on Tues when the site goes back online. I had the vhs rolling.
---
I guess the rain only let up for a few minutes in the second quarter, and yeah, Purple Rain in the rain was cool.

atsonicpark 02.04.2007 08:46 PM

I think prince played some endless summer-era fennesz followed by circuit bent black dice fun.

Lethrneck4 02.04.2007 11:28 PM

ARGGGGGGG!!! well, my bears lost, and got outplayed bigtime...look at the final stats, its ridiculous, rex was rex, dropping snaps, throwing horrible INTs, fumbling around like hes high....even though my team lost i thought it was a horrible super bowl, except for hesters kick return, which got all us bears fans in a frenzy....man, that kid is something....fuck you peyton (im not bitter, honest)

Silent Dan Speaks 02.04.2007 11:37 PM

As a resident of Indiana and a Colts fan, I can't articulate how happy this has made me.

EMMAh 02.05.2007 12:17 AM

Football is boring.

rex grossman is who i thought he was...crown his ass. brian griese had
to be chewing a hole through his helmet. "rex won 15 games for us this
year"...but not the big one.

http://boards.chicagobears.com/forum...ad/349438.aspx

how can a bears fan defend their qb? simply horrid. the much-vaunted
midway D didn't even want to give their all, and why should they?

of course, you could always...

"blame it on the rain! yeaaaahhh-yeah!"

ah yes, i'm still giddy. i feel no great love for indy, but i am a vikings
fan. thus, this is the most fun i've had watching a super bowl since
john elway simultaneously broke the nfc's stranglehold on the sb and
brett favre's heart.

i was more pleased than not by the ads...the coke and budweiser ads
were tops. prince kicked so much ass, it was almost too good...doing
foo fighters was the equivalent of slumming it for the purple dude.

patrick was surprised that there was no ad immediately after the coin toss
for a chance to order a replica super bowl coin as in years past. they
are offering up rex grossman replica hands...they fuck up everything they
touch.

krastian 02.05.2007 01:01 AM

I thought the commercials were pretty bad this year.....I mean, they're usually pretty retarded, but this year they were REALLY retarded. I miss last years monkeys from Career Builder.

I'm not so sure in Manning should have won the MVP......it really should have been Addai and Rhodes I think. I guess the league wanted their poster child to get it.....he had a pretty good game, don't get me wrong.

Benson is a punk as well - he fumbled and then faked an injury - another coward.
We don't need cowards on the Bears!

yep!!

dear fuck

For starters you're from Detroit, and the Pistons are a hell of a lot more fun to watch than the Lions!

Prisstina 02.05.2007 01:24 PM

I watched. Not for the game itself, but for the scores of each quarter. I won $20 in pools.

Rob Instigator 02.05.2007 02:07 PM

super bowl rules all! Long Live football!
Now the depression kicks in.
nothing but ridiculous ass hockey, fatout of shape fucks in baseball and an interminable basketball season to endure.

haha!

super bowl was great! I called the game Indy 35 Chi-town 17. I almost had it!

great game, exciting stuff, wonderful super bowl. Prince played GREAT halftime show. it was awesome. much better than the rolling stones and the (F)aul McCartney. why get old brits to play at the super bowl? makes no sense. fuck them fucks.

prince at least will wail on that guitar man.

chicago is who we thought they were!
dennis green is rolling over in his grave

I smoked a Super Bowl last night.

Then I realised there was a football game on.

who are we supposed to watch?
spoken like a jello Biafra!
that whole jock/punk dinamyc is so played, so 1980. Music is music. sport is sport. Both give you a chance to experience something that transcends the every day, some thing that your eyes and /or ears have never ever witnessed.

would you watch if it were poor church boys playing for th super bowl?

Long live millionaire felons! (there are 53 members on each team and 32 teams. that gives you 1696 players in the NFL. some are bound to be assholes, some are bound to be meat heads, some are bound to be felons. by that same token, some are bound to be saints, some are bound to be PUNKS, some are bound to be geniuses, some are bound to be artists.)

Rob Instigator 02.05.2007 06:03 PM

best commercial, an in-house promo with david letterman!
