November. I also am looking forward to opening this up

Has anyone read any of the other books from the 33 1/3 series? What are they like? I'm a bit worried that it won't be my kind of music writing, but I'm defintely getting it.

I vote for November.

November!!! definitely. Gives it that golden touch...

I'm a design student, and I'd definately go with November! The color scheme is more consistant and flows nicer with the daydream nation cover. It also provides a better contrast with the black text on the back. Red is also the most difficult color for your brain to comprehend.

Very nice design overall, I'm impressed. I can't wait to read it.

Non-red.

I too prefer the gold cover. The red doesnt look right for the album. I dont think of red when I think of DDN.

to be honest i like both.

I like the brown one, kind of a sepiatone effect, suits the albums sound if you see what i mean

I've read the beatles' let it be one in the series, which was cool. But VVEERRYY dry. It was mostly about them in the studio and what guitars they used, which I found intresting, but is a rather pigeon holing approach .I'm aware. It really depends on who writes the book and their connection with album, such as the replacments' let it be was written by collin meloy and is more personally oriented to his feelings about the album and not so much about the album creation (or so I've heard). This one could be intresting i bet. I mean, it si DDN. (post monger!)

While I may be in the minority...I say red. I think the red provides a nice contrast with daydream nation cover. Def. the red.

I'm really excited about this book. THe 33 1/3 series is really great. This should be a good mini read.

red, no contest. how can you not associate 'red' w/ daydream, the spine of the CD? (to be fair, the LP is a greenish spine, but that's not an option here...)

I like the red as well for obvious reasons stated....plus it catches the eye better than the November.

Red for me.

I've not read any of the others in the series,but i think i read somewhere that they will be doing a book on Minutemen's Double Nickels on the Dime lp which will be another one to look forward to. I'd go with red too.

I most definitely prefer your second version, the gold, the best.

One thing about the brick red though is that red definitely does stand out on shelves well. It also matches the DDN theme and I suppose that's why you came up with that design first. Since the book will most likely be turned on its side for display, there is an option between the two (the brick red and the gold) that I came up with for you to consider. It may be more expensive to print the cover this way though, I suppose.






I'm not sure if I like this hybrid more than the second version (gold), but, this way the binding is still red and will stand out accordingly.

I liked the November one better... they should've listened to Steve, dammit.

no...drummers cannot win. if steve had gotten his way with this book
cover, then what? they'll do a sister reissue where his drums are actually
mixed properly? the overall ramifications of stickmen triumphing within
bands are too terrifying to comprehend.

someone should've told that to tommy lee.

i'd definitely buy that sister reissue though, preferably released on smells like records of course.
