What's the Last Exhibition You Went To?

I visit exhibitions, not necessarily art-related ones, more than I go to gigs now.

Yesterday I checked out Derek Jarman's 'Black Paintings'' at the Wilkinson Gallery, which had some excellent works amidst several mediocre ones. Very much like his filmography.

Last Sunday I went to see the installation Jordan Wolfson put on at the Chisenhale Gallery. I loved the huge white room, including the carpet. I can't remember much about the video though.

On the same Sunday I also went to a photography exhibition at the Mile End Pavilion called ''Slowing Down''. Being a group exhibition the quality varied. I enjoyed the pictures which seemed to have been taken by the more amateurish photographers more than the slicker, professional-looking ones, which to me often seem to be presented in a way that may be appealing to the potential (clueless) buyer even though there really is nothing special to them.

What about you. Did you go to any exhibitions of late?

floatingslowly 12.06.2013 06:04 PM

the lil' boy puts a cramp on both exhibitions and gigs, but we did manage to check out the Kubrick exhibit while in LA.

Melbourne is pretty good for art, so I'm hoping that once we have a car, and more time, I'll be able to enjoy it more.

Last thing I went to was light show at the Haywood gallery back in march
Was really good. But to be honest I only really get to go to exhibitions probably once a year (normally on my birthday)

I had to go to France for work a few months ago, south of Paris. And one evening we went to the gardens of the Versailles palace. There were a couple of status by Giuseppe Penone of trees made out of bronze

Last museum I went to was probably Moma in London. Oh, and I did go to the roof of Ludwig Museum to see Body/Head. Does that count?

Kind of stupid, I never go to museums in my own country, even if there would be something interesting to see. But on holidays I always like to go see some art.

I have this souvenir on my wall, from the Getty museum

the time covers were meh, but the cricket shit was truly fantastic, check it out if you can (orchestral "reproductions" of cricket sounds from various regions-- there is probably a video/audio somehwere)
