2014 Reissues
 

On June 10 Sonic Youth will reissue the original 2xLP and CD editions of Daydream Nation and the CD edition of Ciccone Youth’s The Whitey Album via the band’s own label distributed by Revolver/Midheaven.

Daydream Nation and The Whitey Album will be followed by LP and CD editions of Sonic Youth’s currently out-of-print pre-Geffen catalog including Bad Moon Rising, EVOL, Sister, Confusion is Sex and a DVD edition of Screaming Fields of Sonic Love w/ bonus material.

Woop I'm going to finally get me a vinyl copy of DDN, Sister and CIS, just wish I could get Washing Machine.

You can already pre-order Daydream Nation. I wonder if these will be new mixes or what.

Already got them in vinyl (DDN is 4LP box). I hope they're gonna reissue Washing Machine vinyl soon.

Would love a nice repress of the original mixes - but I'm suspecting these are just repressings of the reissues already released, no?

I'm foolishly hoping. If they'll be reissues of the ORG vinyl than that is a little less exciting. But the DVD should be good.
Maybe someone will come and fill us in on the details...

Well Moshe says original recordings so I'm really assuming. I don't see why they'd repress a remaster of the album....that sounds so wrong hahah.

even monetary concerns aside, as a completist i am eager for these, but i am very curious what bonus stuff, new mixes, etcetera

There better be bonus material if they're reissuing CDs in 2014.

According to discogs DDN is the same 2007 remaster by John Golden. But it also comes with a b/w poster, probably the same one from the original.

Anybody know if Daydream will be on color vinyl like the previous reissues?

I got mine and it was on black. I didnt see an option for a colored vinyl.

I haven't really kept a close eye on what SY CDs are in print/available since I've owned them all for 20 years, nor have I looked into their catalog since online digital distribution became a thing, so I'm not sure what the availability was prior to these reissues.

I'm guessing that the rights to these albums have now reverted back to SY (from Geffen) and they've got a chance to release them on their own imprint? Hence the straightforward "original reissue" rather than a "deluxe" approach which is usually attached to some sort of milestone. Are the CDs on SYR or some variation there-of as well?

I just bought the DDN vinyl reissue and it sounds awesome, it's not 180g but still awesome.

Yeah this is the part I don't get. Their out of print stuff, sure, excellent. But why Daydream Nation again?
