Daydream nation in london

Will it be filmed? How will they perform Providence? I'd die to hear Hey Joni live

noumenal 02.22.2007 02:57 AM

I think it would be cool if they just played the album over the PA and then danced around playing air-guitar/drums.

They should let Mike Watt talk in a new message on Thurston's answering machine. Sonic Youth still have that little piano thing from the Providence video I believe. So that's T.'s part, the rest can do the amp distortion.

hellotwentyfifteen 02.22.2007 03:18 AM

wait... whats happening?

Jef Mertens 02.22.2007 04:25 AM

Or they might just play the original song through the PA. I think that's what they did in 88/89 as well.

After Hey Joni they should go "Thankyou, and now via satellite link... MIKE WATT!" Make it a proper "Sorry i couldnt be there" showbiz sort of thing.

screamingskull 02.22.2007 08:44 AM

let's talk hotel's, where are people staying, there are two Holiday Inns in camden?, anyone else know any good places?????

screamingskull 02.22.2007 09:17 AM

mmm, i think thats where i will be, i can go down to london on the virgin train on the friday, see sonic youth that night then stop over at the holiday Inn in camden, on saturday have a look around camden, do some shopping then see sonic youth again that night and stop over at the holiday Inn again. Then get the train home on sunday the 2nd of september.

now thats a plan man.

deathbyfeedback 02.22.2007 09:57 AM

im preparaed to sleep on the fucking street. DDN!!!111

racehorse 02.22.2007 10:27 AM

i'm going to be in paris on the 27/28th and i don't feel like going home (jersey) inbetween. i might get the eurostar or something, no idea how expensive it is though...

Danny Himself 02.22.2007 11:08 AM

I'm sleeping at my aunt's house in Surrey and then getting the train into Kentish Town. I can't wait to see everyone. There should be a rendezvous point in the venue for gossip members.

screamingskull 02.22.2007 11:10 AM

mmm, yeah, where? when? are we all gunna meet up?, we should probably make the arrangements closer to the date. I NEED to be at the front of the stage, so i NEED to get there early.

Danny Himself 02.22.2007 11:28 AM

Yeah, same here. Doors open at 7, right? We should all get there for 6:30 and meet at the front entrance.

screamingskull 02.22.2007 11:36 AM

sounds good to me, we can all were name tags with our screen names to save confusion, ha ha ha ha.

Danny Himself 02.22.2007 01:43 PM

rad!

whorefrost 02.22.2007 06:39 PM

Do you think they're just gonna play the album in order, with no other songs? That's what I figure they'll do.. trying to figure if I need to see this twice... and I'm thinking... yes...

whorefrost 02.22.2007 06:40 PM

only thing is, i'm heading down with my lady friend. i'd need to buy another TWO tickets. and my lady friend ain't the biggest SY fan in the world...

Danny Himself 02.22.2007 06:42 PM

I doubt I'll go to both concerts.

When Thurston was talking about it on watt's radio show he seemed to mean that they'd play it all in order up until the end of side three and then do side four as the encore. So thats basically Kissability and Trilogy as the encore.

maggot brain 02.22.2007 07:10 PM

i hope they do play a few other songs. not that the whole of daydream nation isn't enough!

it's 14 songs and they know they have to play all of it. in this case, i'm assuming there will be an encore. how intense would it be if they played something totally awesome and unexpected... like Becuz or Saucer-Like?!

screamingskull 02.23.2007 07:41 AM

well i know someone posted something saying it was going to be DDN + other songs. I'd love to hear some Washing Machine era songs.

nicfit 02.23.2007 07:43 AM

j'accuse ted huges.

that would fucking ruin it.

the world looks red, on the other hand, would be intense.

GrungeMonkey 02.23.2007 08:11 AM

Just bought the tickets for the saturday performance. Can't wait!!! Surely the'll play more than just DDN? Its still only 70-odd minutes long...

whorefrost 02.23.2007 09:00 AM

Push It Away / The World Looks Red!!!

whorefrost 02.23.2007 09:01 AM

huh? I wanted all caps for that last important post..

ahhavalon 02.25.2007 03:34 AM

UGH another thing I miss while living in the US...Do you think they would record this? It would never beat actually being there, but i'd like to see it.

Washing Machine 02.25.2007 08:07 AM

Just got a ticket! This is gonna be amazing...I get to see my favourite album performed live by my favourite band....Whos going to the saturday gig?

Washing Machine 02.25.2007 02:17 PM

Same here, I've been in to them for ages, but never got the chance to see them in the UK. I couldn't go to nightmare before christmas because you had to be 18 or over, and I had the unfortunate predicament of being 17. Which sucked. But this is better anyway because we get to hear Daydream Nation instead of Rather Ripped. Much better...

Yeah same here! I was 17 at the time, otherwise I would have totally gone to Nightmare Before Christmas, what a dream lineup! I feel even worse after seeing that video on youtube of Be Your Own Pet with Thurston.

Still! like you said we get to hear Daydream Nation, as much as a don't totally hate Rather Ripped, nothing beats Daydream Nation.

musefreek 02.27.2007 10:11 AM

hey everyone, i thought i'll write to let you know that they'd most likely play songs other than on DDN too.

i went to see the melvins two years ago as part of the 'don't look back' festival perform houdini, and they played a lot of other songs after performing the album. so based on that, i'd say it's a fair judgement.

i'm going on sat. BEYOND excited.

sonicl 02.27.2007 10:12 AM

The general way these shows work seems to be that the main show is the featured album and the encore is other stuff.
