pixies sold out to accura??
Ever since Led Zeppelin sold out to Cadillac TV commercials have been destroying good music. Fuck all these sell outs.

right! artists should get no money for their work. everyone should download their shit for free and they should die of hunger in the streets. |
No but artists shouldn't make their art corporate advertising. Its the definition of selling out. Or wait, did you think 25 years ago Pixies wrote that song thinking, "Gee golly i sure hope Accura calls."

Since I don't watch TV I had no idea what this thread was about. Found this gigantic list of sellouts.
http://www.whatisthatsong.net/commer...rcialsa-z.html No Sonic Youth. |
Probably no Tom Waits also in that list.
|
don't forget thurston made music for a bank or something like that
|
Evol, that list is precisely what pisses me off. I mean, ITS LITERALLY THE DEFINITION OF SELLING OUT TO CONVERT YOUR MUSIC INTO JINGLES AND CORPORATE ADS. Also, genteel, nice try but #fail yo
|
Selling out has become such a nothing thing now. If anything, bands see it as a crucial way to get their name out there. And tbh in this day and age where revenues from cds etc. is dropping to silly levels, bands have got to do things like this.
It's a changing world now. |

with such great expertise you should start an "internet diy business" instead of milking the taxpayer for your salary checks. |
!@#$! why you even posting here, you don't know shit about music
|
can I just say that I actually love this rendition of "Where Is My Mind?" - who recorded it?

eh? you didn't write anything about music... didn't hear you discussing, say, the technical aspects of the arrangement. you were just complaining about how not all bands are RATM. in any case, that song has been already used commercially a bazillion bunch of times-- by advertisers, films, tv shows (all of which are used to make profits and sell ads), video games, and even by the american imperialistic space agency NASA whose interplanetary colonization efforts you so much love: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_Is_My_Mind%3F ![]() |

i thought at first it was the brodsky quartet who did some funny shit with elvis costello in the 90s-- the juliet letters was a strange little album i initially rejected but i found myself liking some things about it after a while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wDQRmUJSN4 i haven't been able to find out who did the commercial but they would be my first suspect. then again it could be anyone-- the youtube says "reworked by joey santiago and the pixies" so if joey wrote the arrangement then anyone could play it-- maybe he did it on a laptop ha ha. |
