Are we all going to have nice weekends?

We have some friends coming over for the weekend, so we're going out for something to eat on Saturday evening. That's about it really. Oh, except that I have a day off work on Monday :) and I'm going into London to see Blixa Bargeld do his Rede/Speech performance, and possibly to say hello to sarramkroP.

Reminder to the Brits (and possibly other Europeans? EDIT - Oh, it's only us and the paddies): Don't forget it's Mothers Day on Sunday.

nicfit 03.16.2007 04:43 AM

what??it's father's day on monday here in italy.

A Thousand Threads 03.16.2007 04:47 AM

Today i´ll go to the anniversary party of the local anarchists book shop - alot of shitty bands and funny people - that will be nice.
On Saturday i´ll travel to Roma ( 14 hour train journey, yeah).

ALIEN ANAL 03.16.2007 04:58 AM

highly doubt it, i live in a shit hole with no friends, itll be the same as every other weekend i bet.

Awww, you lucky b*****d! Have a great week.

_slavo_ 03.16.2007 05:08 AM

I'll be with my girlfriend and probably make some new music as I have a deadline until Monday if I want to be on a compilation that's due to be released soon ;-)

enjoy it, he was great when i saw him last year !

jon boy 03.16.2007 05:31 AM

was going to london but not anymore, so going to leeds to meet my friends and play some music.

Iain 03.16.2007 05:54 AM

Bummer....

I am going to London this weekend to see Racc-oo-oon. Also my housemate is going to London because his film is showing in the British Museum so I might go along to that on Saturday morning. Plus I will go record shopping in London no doubt and maybe do something in London on Saturday night and then home on Sunday.

Toilet & Bowels 03.16.2007 05:58 AM

my weekend is probably going to be quite busy. i never get to have relaxing weekends anymore. having said that i'll probably enjoy this weekend.

king_buzzo 03.16.2007 06:37 AM

yes full of work, have to do so much homework and shit....

Pookie 03.16.2007 07:15 AM

Working Saturday as ever.

Then Mother's Day on Sunday, so me and the kids will be making breakfast in bed for their Mother and generally spoiling her all day.

sonicl 03.16.2007 07:17 AM

What part will Seth be playing in the making of his mother's breakfast?

He'll be distracting her while we prepare the surprise.

It is great to see Raccoo-oo-oon mentioned on this board. They are from around my area and are quite lovely. A truely fantastic band.

As for my weekend, it will involve massive amounts of beer. Not much else.

!@#$%! 03.16.2007 10:30 AM

i haven't figured out the weekend yet. it's been a busy week and i haven't had time.

just stay in bed all day, and procreate?

sounds like a plan...

SynthethicalY 03.16.2007 10:33 AM

Work, and go out and have sex. Come home and go to school

drrrtyboots 03.16.2007 10:42 AM

I'm going to be snowed in tomorrow most likely. And on st. patrick's day too, shit.

schizophrenicroom 03.16.2007 10:53 AM

I'm going to be snowed in on Monday, if the weather forecasts are to be believed.

lalie 03.16.2007 11:53 AM

I'll spend weekend studying again, so boring...
I can't wait for May and the end of that.

fishmonkey 03.16.2007 12:00 PM

happy st patricks day.

what? who?

o wait wait... you're actually irish. well have fun! and avoid bleeding noses. i'm sure st patrick would frown upon that.

Cardinal Rob 03.16.2007 12:15 PM

I'm never up to much as it's not like I have a lil' 'scene' around here or anything.

I'll probably harm my ears some more, do some revision and maybe if I have the motivation, bike up to the top of the moors and meditate.

Be sure to pick up Raccoo-oo-oon's current tour CD-R "Behold Secret Kingdom". I got it at one of their recent shows and it's excellent!
Although I think it's going to get a proper vinyl and maybe CD release later on as well if you want to wait for that... anyway, you'll need to get one of those.

On my own weekend, I don't have any plans so it's going to be quite relaxing I'm sure. Had a little stress from the first post in this thread about Mother's Day, but that's not until May where I live.

screamingskull 03.16.2007 12:47 PM

my mum's away all weekend, so i'm lonely. I will be swimming tomorrow in the morning, then some homework, then a friends 18th birthday party in the evening.
Sunday i am at work all day.

i think that had sold out, i got their tour tape though

atari 2600 03.17.2007 09:56 AM

Van Morrison plays Austin City Limits...check your local listings.

Of course, as always, I'm enjoying the finest sounds available anywhere and playing recordings.

Besides more March Madness, ATP Tennis is on my leisure itinerary for today.
There's a Nadal and Roddick semi-final match at the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, California later today...don't miss it...why do I bother? Of course, you'll miss it.

Last week I went to a Hedda Sterne show. She's the lone woman in the (in)famous picture of "The Irascibles." Don't know who they are? Google it. The show was amazing; her later work is great.

I also went to a screening of No Restraint (2006) which is a documentary of the making of Matthew Barney's Drawing Restraint 9, which is, in turn, showing tomorrow night at seven p.m.

Alex's Trip 03.17.2007 10:05 AM

Going to a speech tournament, then to my Grandma's birthday today. If I do well in the tournament I am going to the semi-finals on Sunday. If I do well on that, in a month or so I'll be going to the State Tournament.

HECKLER SPRAY 03.17.2007 10:10 AM

Good luck alex, I know you're the best !!!

atari 2600 03.17.2007 10:13 AM

I won or did very well at all those literary tournaments, debate tournaments, quiz bowls, chess tournaments, and the like when I was your age. Winning Best Negative Speaker at the N.E. GA debate tounament (one of the nation's largest) was cool. Because of me, our team also defeated Westminster, this private school in Atlanta that usually won the whole thing. I distinctly remember one literary tournament because it was during the school week, so we got to miss classes and that was the day that the Space Shuttle Challenger blew up on live television. I was the extemporaneous speaker runner-up that day because of some dim-witted last-minute substitute judge.
Despite all the certificates, prizes, and awards, my greatest thrill was playing as the #2 seed in the state tennis championship. I lost my second match though that day.
I got my picture in the papers too (won a 150 US savings bond) for winning the region for my letter to Mikhail Gorbachev in a "Letters for World Peace" contest.

Oh, am I being obnoxious?
Would it also be obnoxious if I asked you to pucker up and kiss my ass?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

good luck!

damn, atari.

i'm not going to list any of my "accomplishments".

Massenvernichtungswaffen 03.17.2007 12:09 PM

this weekend is filled with random events. st. paddy's day and all makes today a day of green beer and equally green vomit.

She came from a country far from here and I just came from the west
Where men went to seek their fortune, and most came out second best
Nickel it was the packet, a memory o' gold the prize
Hannan St. lit up like Christmas as the sun pissbolts the sky

If she would just come back with me
I think my old man knows what I mean
Yeh we'll drink 'til we're pink, throw up in the sink
And I'll get what I left behind
And she'll understand me in KALgoor-a-lie

I romanticise things outta size and for that I should be shot
But when yer world is spinnin' like washin' room linen yeh you cling onto what you got
So I dream about that red red dust that clung to my skin as a kid
And hope that one day she'll understand why I turned out like I did

Alex's Trip 03.18.2007 12:33 AM

Yay. I got into the semi-finals. I think I will definitely move on to the finals, but I don't know if I will move on after that to the State tournament.

Yep...that had sold out unfortunately but as Toilet said it is getting a proper release in May I think. Also the tape that Toilet bought is coming out on vinyl as Mythos Folkways volume 3. I got the Cave of Spirits Forever and Are Night People cds anyway. Only listened to the first so far but it's ace.

Bought plenty of other records on the weekend as well.

pokkeherrie 03.18.2007 04:57 PM

I'm not a toilet! I haven't heard the first one you mentioned, but Is Night People didn't really click for me. I prefer their more heavy/psychedelic side.

Iain 03.18.2007 05:09 PM

I'm talking about Mr + Bowels, not you!

I have listened to both and like them both a lot. Maybe Cave... is a bit better.
