Kim Gordon - Murdered Out
|
I wouldn't say it was the first release under her own name though...
https://www.discogs.com/Kim-Gordon-W.../master/688257 ;) |
i love that bassline...
i like this song! |
Here is my review.
Disclaimer: I've been listening to Horrid Red all afternoon so basically everything by comparison is utter shite as we all know that said band are the best 4 eva. So. Don't like it. Shite innit. Lel That other Kim record is so expensive.. |
wtf?
wow. this is actually melodic... the creation process according to the interview is even more interesting. hmmm. |
love it love it love it.
Thanks Kim! Thanks stu666 for sharing! |
I don't really like the beat. the guitars and kim's vocals are good though.
i think it's the bass line mainly. kinda wish kim had played bass too... |
I like it. It sounds like late 90's electro alternative stuff or something. It's interesting - a direction I wouldn't have expected.
|
Really digging this song. Can't wait for the full album.
|
i feel bad for saying this but my first thought of seeing this on my Twitter feed was fuuuuuuuuuuck kim looks like Iggy Pop now
|
I have no opinion, yet.
|
killer track
|
Itīs as boring as new Warpaint song.
|
It sounds like what would happen if fat boy slim had a stab at making an edgy rock track with kim vocal samples
|
I really don't know what to say or think about this yet. On first listen, it didn't do much for me. Not sure how I feel about the sound or production.
This is probably not a great sign, because I loved Body/Head and Glitterbust right away. |
This is a rock song, not Body/Head or Glitterbust.

Just saying. Never had to wonder about a Kim helmed track before. I'm not saying I don't like it, but it didn't do anything for me the first time through. |

hahahahah. I fight AGEISM!!!!!! ![]() |
Nothing like a simple, aggressive rock song to get my blood pumping!

I have. KIm has destroyed me on several occasions with horrendous tracks. (Contre le sexisme off thousand leaves makes me want to puke.) |

Eh, the pic's all pixelated and bullcrap. She's still ULTRAHAWT! http://store.matadorrecords.com/murdered-out Grrrr, mp3 only... Matador sells FLACs, and both Matador and Kim have Bandcamp pages. Bring on the losslessness! |

Oh Alice, come back he's just a kitten... ... He's just a kitten!!!! Haha. Yeah, I know. That bit is painful. I like the textures though. And the rest of the lyrics arent that bad. And still, it's the lead in to one of Sonic Youth's best albums, so I can cut it some slack. "My Friend Goo" has always put me off. I like the new song, now that I've heard it a few times. But it's really not at all what I expected. Good enough though. I'll keep listening and it'll grow on me like a malignant cyst. |
I always liked that kitten part haha

i always thought Corin was the cute one btw ;) i also think she aged exquisitely and so i almost have more of a crush on her now than i did when i was 13!! |
I think this is pretty okay song. A bit too long but I like it. It's also great that there's a beat 'cause it makes Kim's vocals more focused.
|
I don't like it.
Sounds too "generic" to my ears. Sure, it features Kim's vocals and guitar (and I suspect it's enough for many people to be content with it), but I don't like the sounds/production, and reading how the track was put together I think it's no surprise it doesn't really strike me as a "kim's song" at all. Still curious to see if she'll pursue a similar sound/mood in future tracks. I secretly hope for an album similar to Santigold's first LP, i.e. filled with a variety of amazingly-produced multi genre semi-pop(?) songs. ahah. edit: also, can we please avoid the hot/not hot comments? edit 2: yeah, I'm a grumpy a**hole. |
My Friend Goo IS rocksong, Murdered Out is just that lame version of rock that has made thousand times in 2000.
Countre Le gave me naturally little bit wondering at first time, then I have loved it. It just opens ATL so great way, give a good impression whatīs coming. |
yawn
|
its okay, sorta sounds like an updated version of Suicide, but not as interesting.
At this point I'm pretty worn thin on all the SY members individual bands/projects. |
Well, it seems there are not coming any SY solo material in the near future. Thurstonīs album is already moved into spiring 2017 and seems to be yet no information about Leeīs new solo (also that DVD is still unreleased). Anyway Matador seems to be interested Kimīs new stuff...

That's kind of sad, but I understand. I've been a devout little fanboy and purchased all the solo offerings as they've come out, attended concerts when I've been able to, and generally towed the line. But it's definitely nothing like the SY days. I wonder if this is how the Beatles generation felt in the 1970s. Hearing "Band on the Run" on the radio and trying to be excited... like, wow this... kinda.. sounds like the Beatles... almost sort of. Yay! ? |
I was always selective with solo work. To me, what I loved about SY was the combination of the players. I don't know. I just think that the formula created a perfect balance - they all tethered each other perfectly.

And anyway I really hope somebody is releasing Leeīs new solo, what I heard in a gig, it can be the best solo record all the time! |

Thanks for bringing Horrid Red to my attention, I'd been wondering what the Teenage Panzer Dudes were up to now. |
gordon/olive/mori/(o'rourke) trio/quartet were great. free kitten's inherit was great. there are some other great kim solos out there.
i don't think the problem with the song is kim, i think it's the dude who did the music. |

I'm kinda with him on the Kim thing. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed, but I'm pretty sure I'd marry her. Ok so maybe there's some minor obsessive thinking going on on my part, but Jesus, she is pretty fucking awesome. Whatever strange tempted Thurston to violate their union, it better have been that Succubus from American Gods who eats people with her vag. That's the only excuse I can think of that would make his betrayal understandable, if not justified. Still not totally sold on this song though. There's something distinctly unKimly about it. It feels like she's just supplied the vocals to someone else's track. Which is fine, I guess. But it's odd that the first "Kim Gordon" Kim Gordon song sounds so much like someone else's ideas. |
