Pookie's great 7" vinyl dilemma

I have a dilemma (sort of).

I have a whole bundle of 7" singles which I am getting rid of. I really can't be bothered to sell them: a dealer wouldn't be interested, many are quite obscure, and I really can't be bothered to start listing them on ebay.

From being on this board for a while now, I know that there are people here who would appreciate the type of music I'm talking about, and I would really love my records to go to somebody who will get pleasure from them.

So what do I do?

I'm certainly not going to spend time listing them.

I had an idea that I could post bundles to people if they wanted, say a random selection of 10 and you pay postage. Or people could list wants, and I could post them out if I had them (but this could be too time consuming and complicated).

Would anybody actually be interested?

Savage Clone 04.05.2007 07:51 PM

I am damned interested.

I also know for a fact that T&B is a 7" freak.

I say "grab bag assortments" only!

Iain 04.05.2007 07:51 PM

Ummm....that's a very generous off you are making and I'm sure that tonnes of people, myself included, would be interested. What kind of things do you have?

He is indeed. I'm a recent convert to 7"s. Being a skinflint I still think they represent poor value for money but I love it when they are free.

Quite an assortment. If I pick a handful from the pile sitting next to me, I get:

Atari Teenage Riot/Asian Dub Foundation split picture disc
Feast Upon Cactus Thorns
Minutemen
Cee Bee Beaumont
Crass
1/2 Japanese
The Flaming Stars
Better Than Your Hand
Mukilteo Fairies
The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Well, think about it this way...
How many full-length LPs have you got that are "worth the price of admission" for just one or two really good tracks? A 7" cuts all the crap right out (provided it's good, of course), plus you get the mystique of the B-Side.

Everyneurotic 04.05.2007 08:01 PM

i'm interested!! i'm interested!!

Yeah, but you could pay £4 for a 7" with 2 tracks or maybe about the same for a full LP...sometimes the other stuff is crap but it's free crap!

Iain 04.05.2007 08:07 PM

Grab bag assortments would be the easiest. Then if some people have stuff that other people really want and they are not that bothered they could trade amongst themselves if they see fit.

Everyneurotic 04.05.2007 08:09 PM

assortment bag is cool with me too.

Toilet & Bowels 04.05.2007 08:12 PM

i'm up for this, and depending on the price of postage i'd get more than 10

can i have those mukilteo fairies, 1/2 japanese & crass ones please, for a start?

Iain 04.05.2007 08:15 PM

Yes, I would as well I think. Unless you wanted to limit it to 10 per person to be fair. It depends how many 7s you have and how many people want some.

Bollocks_to_Pop 04.05.2007 09:16 PM

This sounds awesome. Thanks for the generosity.

!@#$%! 04.05.2007 09:47 PM

whoa if i get a grab bag of assortments, could you make sure to put half japanese in it? ehh? eeeeehhh?? ;););)

haha, no, that is awesome, but you could make a bit of cash auctioning them off, even if it's just here.

well if you go with it i think i'd be interested in helping you get rid of your possessions... more than once.

(having said that, i should ask-- how much for all of them? just wondering if you would...)

afterthefact 04.05.2007 09:47 PM

If you have any obscure japanese thrash or experimental stuff, I would definately pay some postage for that!

HaydenAsche 04.05.2007 10:44 PM

I'd so be down, Pookie.

SonikJesus 04.06.2007 12:49 AM

I'm interested. The grab-bag idea sounds good. If it is possible, I'd get more than one. A lot more.

andrei 04.06.2007 01:07 AM

wow!... i'll gladly take them all:D

k-krack 04.06.2007 01:17 AM

I'M IN!!!

gmku 04.06.2007 02:30 AM

Count me in, too!

Toilet & Bowels 04.06.2007 02:45 AM

nicfit 04.06.2007 03:12 AM

yeah, we could go at it battle royale style!

i'll take the... nucular weppens!

nicfit 04.06.2007 03:55 AM

I'll take pop corn and sit enjoying the battle, I've no turntable.

Pookie 04.06.2007 04:11 AM

I'll pack up 10 records and find out how much postage would be, UK and overseas, then I'll let you know.

Probably the easiest way to pay would be using Paypal. I can send bills to anybody who doesn't know how to use it, and you don't need a Paypal account that way.

But if anybody wants to send money, that's fine too (but a bit more risky).

Some more:
Husker Du
Jad Fair
Foetus
*ahem* New Model Army
Elvis
The Tone Deaf Pig Dogs

Danny Himself 04.06.2007 11:32 AM

I am also deeply interested.

Danny Himself 04.06.2007 11:33 AM

I'd go for that Jad Fair 7"...

Pookie 04.06.2007 11:47 AM

No takers for New Model Army?

Somebody's gonna get it!:)

Savage Clone 04.06.2007 01:20 PM

I think no one should be making any specific requests.
Grab bags require mystery!

!@#$%! 04.06.2007 01:26 PM

shakespeare play! everyone ends up dead!!

!@#$%! 04.06.2007 01:28 PM

actually i'll take whatever you can send my way--more than 1 parcel of 10s are welcome! suprises are cool.

Pookie 04.06.2007 04:51 PM

I probably have about 300, so those who are definitely in, let me know and if you're ok with Paypal, or want to pay another way.

What other forms of payment are you cool with?

Pookie 04.06.2007 05:14 PM

Cash from overseas, or cash & cheques in the UK. I suggested Paypal because it's free for you, you don't need an account, you don't need to physically send anything (which costs you money), and it's quick.

But I'm easy either way.

afterthefact 04.06.2007 05:25 PM

That's cool, I can do paypal.

Danny Himself 04.06.2007 07:16 PM

I can do cashmoney..

SonikJesus 04.06.2007 07:27 PM

I can do paypal.

Пятхъдесят Шест 04.06.2007 07:52 PM

Ah, piss! How did I miss this.

Too late?
