I just listened to it and I think it sounds very interesting! Great thing in this is that it's quite different stuff than I expected Kim's solo album to be, sounding more like Massive Attack or 90's Tricky than Sonic Youth. |

|
I dig the new vid a LOT.
Of course, out of all the skronk-masters in Sonic Youth, it is Kim Gordon who actually releases experimental and exploratory solo records. She rules all. Everyone else in the SY is continuing to explore their bore-folk aspects...... https://youtu.be/TJl_9a6dp4g |
On the next issue (#428, "October") of The Wire: "On the cover we have an extended interview with Kim Gordon, still bringing the noize with a new solo album, her ongoing Body/Head duo with Bill Nace, and a new score for Andy Warhol's 1964 silent film Kiss, among other endeavours, all proving there is plenty of life after S•••c Y••th".

I did not expect this to be so industrial and less experimental... although she's a great visual artist. |
Pre-order available. There will be a CD, cassette, black vinyl, and white vinyl (white only in US Matador store). Also a shirt, tote, and bundle:

another one http://www.brooklynvegan.com/kim-gor...out-this-week/
yet again Kim seems to be the only one making remotely interesting music post-yoof |
What I've heard reminds me of the 90s, and not in a good way.
|
i just finally watched the airbnb video haaa haaa haaa haaa
genius (and cleverness aside, it reminded me of one of the deleted scenes from pink flamingos, lol) |

Kim gets an 8.4 rating on Pitchfork. I haven't heard it yet, think I'll bike to my local record store this afternoon and see if they have it already

Kim Gordon will be in-store at Rough Trade EAST to meet fans and sign copies of her new solo album 'No Home Record', released 11th October on Matador. |
God damn this is good.

find it interesting that in a lot of these interviews Kim isn’t being absolute as to SY having finished, not that I think it’s something that’s even remotely likely to happen but it’s a big jump from her being much more categorical around the time of girl in a band....
|
It’s goddamn excellent. Somehow bucks the conventions of noise rock and art rock in just the right ways to sound fully invigorating (and invigorated), without leaving the classic Kim we love behind.
Probably the most forward-thinking solo release from an SY member. Just a tremendous win, and I can’t stop playing it. |
