"April 23 Beijing, China The Star Live (subject to PRC Ministry of Culture approval) April 24 Shanghai, China Shanghai Concert Hall (subject to PRC Ministry of Culture approval)" sounds scary. Oh, speaking of nice places for shows, check this Teatro Ostia Antica, Rome (third italian date): ![]() ![]() |
I think the "cultural approval" thing was always there... Do you think they'd have big debates at the ministry about whether playing the "Free Tibet" concerts 10 years ago is a reason to deny them playing?
I'd prefer to see them do a Daydream Nation set than a Rather Ripped set... the two RR shows I witnessed were my least favourite SY shows. The only thing I wish they'd do is not play it in the standard album order, but alas, that's part of ATP's rules. So yes, lucky bastards you are! (but not as lucky as when the Original Silence tour hit Italy and Italy alone!) |

I think REM have played there since and they kinda headed up that whole thing. I am happy for all the italian folks here! |
Holy shit, those venues are insaaaaaane. Eat it up!!!

Yes nicfit, arci is still behind the curtains...
as usual. ferrara--boh, it's weird how they get "big names" playing, I think yes they have a lot of money. I heard a rumour---a soft rumour... maybe... My Bloody Valentine... I dont even know if they are planning a tour (I read instead about the reunion) but anyway, Ferrara it's out of tour planning (see last year sigur ros: the only italian date in a non-tour period). let's hope! I hope I'll see you as well and chat. last time we talked what was it? at mogwai? I think SY will be very expensive this time... I guess around 25-30 euros... (sigur ros last year was 40+) ci sentiamo |

Yep, mogwai in treviso. By the way, if you use messenger drop me a line via pm with your account, so maybe we could "chat" a bit before the gig to set up things to meet each other and stuff. The sy gig in turin is 25 euros. Guess it will be 25-30 in ferrara, as you said....This time I hope there won't be opening acts, so they'll have enough time to play DDN and some nice encores..like, who knows, DV'69 or the diamond sea...... I'm tired of shows ending with teenage riot ;)! |
Quote:
...this time it will START with teenage riot! dont have msn... email: twisted@virgilio.it! |

Hehe, you're right, even if it's not sure that they will play DDN following the album tracklist...we'll see!!:D :p |

looks like MCIAA will open for SY in ferrara (dunno on other dates).... oh, all in all it's a nice festival, Tinariwen, Bright Eyes (worth going?) and Xiu Xiu for free. |
MCIAA will open in quel di Torino too---
|
oh dear it seems im going to the rome gig
|
Will that be MCIAA in the open air? Somehow that doesn't seem right. Some bands just aren't born to perform outdoors.
|
Quote:
why dyou think so SonicL? i saw the sonics live outdooors once during the WM tour and it was amazing. |
Quote:
I guess by "MCIAA" sonicl did not mean Sonic Youth, but My Cat Is an Alien, Bal. |
I saw mciaa live supporting SY on the MS tour, actually I was kinda bored, but the "open air" setting didn't kill the overall atmosphere of their music. I just hope people won't start boooing or something, I'm a very polite listener and when I don't like a band I simply don't pay attention to their music while waiting for the next performer, I won't booooo or anything that rude. But, you know, italian audience id quite unpredictable, and quite "ignorant" to an extent. On the goodbye 20th century italian date in Bolonga people didn't understand "Why they are playing this pointless stuff and not drunken butterfly?", mbah!
|
_slavo_ is correct, I was referring to My Cat Is An Alien when I said that playing outdoors doesn't seem right. I've only seen them once, at ATP before Christmas, and it seemed quite an intimate experience. Actually being able to see them at work is quite an important part of their live experience, I think.
|
oh i knew it i just wanted to raise my postcount
![]() |
Bal, you and all the guys going to the Rome gig are very lucky, ZU will open for SY... a little "original silence" thing will take place, perhaps?
|
yeah hope it happens cause i had no time to book tickets yet..
ill have my state exam tomorrow so ill have to see how that goes and after that ill have time to book my flights, accomodation etc. hope i can sort it out for relative cheap. i have to see a ddn gig this sommer or i kill myself. |
i'm thinking (and a 1, 2, 3, 4) and...
maybe Rome would be a great place for seeing SY performing Daydream Nation again... :) |
so i bought my flight ticket today.
my question is: dyou think i will be able to buy tickets on the day of the gig? or should i book them online? maaan im soooooooooo much looking forward to this. |
ok.
so who is coming to the rome gig? |
They should get all of us whinny fuckers in a studio, leave the mics on for 45 minutes and listen to us all complain about this stuff that we so obviously know better than the band and then unlease a cheetah into the room for the last minute or so.
