i was at the record store today, sonic youth ep reissue on vinyl for 20 bucks, same with whitey album. goo deluxe for 40 bucks, dirty deluxe for 45. touch me im sick reissue for 35 along with halloween for 40.

no cds for under 10 bucks (2/3 of the stock is used!)

and this is the only record store in town that stocks even remotely obscure stuff, outside of this its sam goody and wal-mart.

that's boshit. do not stand for that crap! try to find a good independently owned record store

yeah i know, internet is cool and shit. there is nothing like browsing a record store though, and getting instant gradification, finding a gem and walking out of the store with it.

im just frustrated about how people are taken advantage of and how overpriced shit is, gas, food, clothes.

YOD is pretty expensive too, i own alot of RRR.

half.com you can get CDs usually from 1-5 dollars, but not vinyl

half is amazing, i look at it all the time but i never get around to buying things

granted, i know that feeling and it's pretty cool. but, for example, i live in mexico, and the only stores that carry obscure music are the rip off old guy places that stock pretty much all prog rock or the rip off old guy places that stock pretty much all beatles. i mean, you can't even go to a metal store and expect something like bulgarian black metal, there are ZERO cool stores here. if i want something that's not mainstream, my only choice is mail order, it's either not buying music (and just downloading) or buying online.

Yeah, I've gotten some good deals at half.com too. Check Ebay as well, sometimes you find like 1cent cds and stuff.

yes there is nothing like this, and i'm lucky enough to live directly behind the best record store in my state so it is even better, although it does affect the paying of rent on time and the ability to buy food

fuck food and rent, just eat vinyl and live in a shack made out of sleeves and liner notes...

buying from the labels direct is the best way.
all your money is going to the label and the artist.
eg. lightning bolts wonderful rainbow plus ride the skies - £15 each in my citys record shops. but from load, $12 each plus less than $10 postage.
$34 = about £17

Therea re also plenty of shops that don't rip you off out there.But then London is another place alltogether.

Jeez, I spent over an hour assembling items I wanted to buy (nothing SY, but the Covers album by Cat Power, and a few Low albums that I always wanted to have). Then I had to register, which went ok even though I was redirected to ebay.nl. Then I had to select my ship to address:
