Portland (two straight 50+ point games for Dame) and Phoenix have been playing some great ball, but Memphis, who has loss 6 of 7 in this reboot of a playoff stretch, might hold on to the eighth spot?

I would love for the Rockets to play the Lakers or the Clippers, worried about Portland, Dallas and the mile high altitude of Denver.

So Golden Child, who do you like?

I really hope that they didn't know the character because that'd make it even more hilarious.

Bytor Peltor 08.11.2020 08:08 PM

OMG DAME IS INSANE!!!......61 points = Portland wins!

What Are The Odds?

Damian Lillard's 61
9 of 17 from 3-Point range
3 of 7 from midrange
5 of 8 from close range
18 of 18 from the line

Players with three 60-point games in an NBA season:

Wilt Chamberlain
Damian Lillard

golden child 08.12.2020 07:38 AM

Heck yeah, of course I like the Blazers but I haven't been able to catch much of them playing. I have just been seeing what is on during the day and watching whatever I can. I like the Pelicans for political reasons. I don't like Lebron James but I should watch more. I enjoyed watching the Miami Heat and the Utah Jazz this week.

golden child 08.12.2020 07:39 AM

The Suns were good

_tunic_ 08.13.2020 03:01 AM

I try to keep on track, but we only get to see one game every other day. And of course if there's a football match or any other sports there will be no NBA match shown. But on the plus side, the games are at a watchable time, start time at 8PM or 10PM in my timezone instead of in the middle of the night.

Can't say I have a favorite team right now, I used to like the Clippers with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, then Golden State Warriors but they've been nowhere this season. Now I don't know. I do like that the Clippers are finally competing, but to be frank I don't really know who plays for them :)

I hope I'll be able to see a lot from the playoffs, fingers crossed. Perhaps I need to change my TV subscription, for the extra sports package instead of the extra movie/hbo package that I hardly use.... I do have to admit though, whenever I do watch the live game. I get so bored from the advertorial interruptions that I stop watching the live game, but instead record it and watch it at a later time so that I can fast forward through the interruptions.

I hear of more and more people doing this.

The Rockets shot themselves in the foot losing to Indiana Wednesday. They can still hold on to the 4th spot but it’s going to require them to beat Philadelphia Friday......the playoffs start Saturday!

Most points in a player's final 3 games in NBA history

2019-20 Damian Lillard 154
2005-06 Kobe Bryant 128
1986-87 Michael Jordan 128
1985-86 Dominique Wilkins 128
2014-15 Russell Westbrook 127
1977-78 David Thompson 127

Portland will now play Memphis in a “play-in” game with the winner playing the LA Lakers in the first round. I don’t believe the Lakers have a chance against Portland!!!

_tunic_ 08.14.2020 07:00 AM

Looking forward to those playin games! I will be able to watch it, live. On Saturday evening 8:30pm in my timezone

Phoenix must be gutted, missing the playoffs even though they had a 8-0 winning streak in their last matches.

yea. GOLS, like BASKOTS!!

Too many, dilutes the best part of the game.

ufff. When there's a basket (lol) every two seconds it dilutes the feeling of scoring and you end up thinking 'they've scored, so what, there'll be another score in a second anyway'.

American sports, lol

Phoenix has the longest winning streak to finish a season by any team that missed the playoffs in NBA history.

Very cool you get to watch the play-ins

Portland/Memphis tips tomorrow at 1:30 pm
Portland is favored -5.5

Bytor Peltor 08.15.2020 02:56 PM

Halftime
Memphis 52
Portland 58

Jusuf Nurkic has been tremendous in the first half and the games leading scorer with 15 points......and with his 17th rebound of the half, Nurkic sets the new team record for rebounds in a half, a record previously held by Bill Walton.

Traditionally this season, Portland has experienced major collapses during the 3rd quarter. Dame can’t score 50 every game?? Should be a good 2nd half!

Anyone else watching?

Bytor Peltor 08.17.2020 05:18 PM

For today’s opening Game 1 vs. Brooklyn, the Toronto Raptor players selected their Friends & Family to virtually introduce them in the pregame introductions......and it looks like it worked as Toronto dominated at halftime and lead by 17 with 7 minutes remaining the the game.

Halftime
Nets 51
Raptors 73

Bytor Peltor 08.17.2020 08:17 PM

So far today the “home teams” are undefeated:

Utah 125
Denver 135

Brooklyn 110
Toronto 134

Philadelphia 101
Boston 109

.
Dallas (+6.5 ) has the last opportunity at a “road” win
LA Clippers

It’s the “home team” for the sweep of the days games:

Dallas 110
LA Clippers 118

Luka Doncic was the games high scorer with 42 points

“Luka Doncic is the first player in NBA history to score 40 in his playoff debut“

NOT Magic, Larry, MJ, Kobe or LeBitch......LUKA!!!

Porzingis was ejected for this, drawing his second technical of the game. In the age of covid, players can’t be stepping towards each other in after whistle/dead ball situations.

_tunic_ 08.18.2020 01:22 AM

I watched Brooklyn - Toronto, it was boring. Brooklyn was behind from the start and had no chance in recovering from it. I actually didn't finish, stopped watching at the end of the 3rd quarter and went to bed ('round midnight at my timezone).
We can't choose which game to watch, we only get one game a day, if we gat a game at all.

Would have loved to see the Denver - Utah game instead
Mitchell scored 57 points and still lost

4 Questions The Rockets Must Answer To Advance Past OKC

Domination = Rockets are 24-1 when shooting 37.0% or better on 3s this season.

Sucks Ass = Rockets are 20-27 when shooting less than 37% on 3s this season

For the season, OKC is 33-16 when their bench outscored the opposing bench

A “road team” might finally when a game:

Halftime
Orlando 62
Milwaukee 52

Rockets dominating at Halftime:

OKC 52

Chris Paul received a technical while leaving the court before the half.
Eric Gordon has played great for Rockets.

2nd half should be good!

End of 3rd
OKC 83
Houston 104

Steven Adams looks slow against the Rockets small-ball offense.

Rockets win
OKC 108
Houston 123

Mike D'Antoni on Eric Gordon's scoring with Westbrook out: "It's fundamental. We have to have it. Eric played well, but I think he'll even play better... He's an important piece that we have."

Harden w/ 37 points, 11 rebounds and six 3’s made

Bytor Peltor 08.18.2020 09:42 PM

Anthony Davis had 11 of the Lakers last 13 points to close out the half. Portland led by as many as 11, but they only lead by one at halftime:

Portland 57
Lakers 56

That ended up being pretty easy, but LB wasn’t happy:

Game 1 Final
Portland 100
Lakers 93

Laker’s 3-point FG 5-32 = 16%
Danny Green: 2-8 (25%)
LeBron James: 1-5 (20%)
Kyle Kuzma: 1-5 (20%)
Anthony Davis: 0-5 (0%)
Caldwell-Pope: 0-5 (0%)

Here is the list of teams to score less than 99 points in a game against the Portland Trailblazers this season:

Regular Season
November 25 - Chicago Bulls
December 10 - New York Knicks

Playoffs
August 18 - Los Angeles Lakers

-Houston, Oklahama City, Los Angeles, and Portland
-the entire WNBA
-the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres in the MLB

Mr. Socks & Sandals came up with the 2nd biggest BLOCKED SHOT in Rockets postseason history......each was in a Game 7

Houston’s #1 playoff-ranked defense held OKC to three made field goals in the final 8:22.

Socks & Sandals is now 2-0 in game 7s against Chris Paul

I couldn't sleep last night, so I got out of bed, must have been 1AM, turned on the TV and fell into the Celtics - Raptors match. Wow, what a great match it was!

Boston thought they had the win in the pocket and a 3-0 playoffs lead, when they made their final score with great team play, and 0.5 seconds left on the clock. But then the Raptors took the win instead with the ultimate 3 pointer buzzer beater by Anunoby!!
