If you could have been in any band..........
 

.............past or present, what band would you want to be in, and why?, and what would you play?

At the moment i think i'd quite like to have been in the dandy warhols, they seem to have a good time and not take it all too seriously. I much prefer the music they were doing in the 90's to the stuff they are doing now though. Plus i'd get to live in portland Oregon during the 90's when it was really lively, and i'd get to gaze at their lovely drummer as much as i wanted. I think i would play Bass.

The Brian JonesTown Massacre would be a great band to play in, but i couldn't cope with Anton Newcombe all the time, he is such an asshole.

The Grateful Dead would be amazing, but i'd probably go crazy from all the parties and drugs. I think i'd rather watch them play than be in the band playing.

Sleater-Kinney would be an awesome band to play in, but i'd have to be really really good at whatever instrument i played.

Well, my lack of musical ability would mean that, had I been in the right place at the right time and was a total hippy, I probably could have been in Amon Duul I. But that goes for everyone on the board I suppose. As fond as I am of Amon Duul, I think being in them would have fucked me off after a while.

I too was thinking of the Butthole Surfers. They would have been ace to be in.

Maybe The Fall or Gong, because I'm one of the few people who hasn't been part of either band yet and I don't like to feel left out.


When thinking about it more seriously, I don't know.

My Bloody Valentine, and why? Because I've been listening to them non-stop. If I could have one wish, it would be that they reunite, play here, and ear-rape me.

As cheesy as it sounds the band im putting together now. Because its my band and is going to be full of my friends (who have every simular ideas to mine) Its looks like its going to be the band i've always dreamed of so yeah.

playing guitar in the Dead C would be superb as well.. they seem to have a pretty loose, laid back approach, real free, yet they consistently come out with interesting, engaging records..

I would say two bands. I would love it, if I was an instrumental virtuoso, to play guitar in Phish. When they were together they played two sets a night (one hour set and a 2 hour set, no opening band) and they never played the same setlist, nor even played the same song the same way twice. It would have been a musician's dream.

Other than that I would have loved loved loved to have been a GODDAMN MISFIT.
I would have played drums and been their permament drummer That would be fun as fuck.

Also, I dont know where any of the open-mics are in cardiff anymore... Apart from buffalo - but a bunch of them have stopped indefinatly it seems though i haven't checked them out recently.
