I hope she didn't get sucked into New York and disappeared. I plan to join her , London bores me to tears.
|
Everyone seems to gravitate towards the five boroughs.
|
New York is where is at.
|
i can't say that i don't plan on moving there by the end of 2008. guess i'm a trendhopper, too.
|
nah, new york has become too expensive for it to be hive of art and music that it once was
|
Manhattan, maybe, but mostly the other boroughs are fine price-wise. You could live in Staten Island, porkie. Everyone's forgotten about it!
|
London is more boring, as expensive as it is. It is a boring place. Apart from entertainment that is brought into the city, there isn't much else happening apart from fish and chips. A very parochial place.
|
Besides, the mentality in London is very provincial compared to
New York. |
I hope she's enjoying herself.

that's why i'm happy to want to stay in bed-stuy. it's nowhere near as expensive as manhattan and some of the hipper areas in brooklyn. |
Brooklyn is the new manhattan. Or something.
|
boo, hoo, hoo.....
I live in Cardiff. The art scene is quite good for a small city I suppose. But music here utterly sucks. Nothing interesting is happening. Cardiff and the surrounding valleys has become the mecca of Post-Hardcore music and trying to get anywhere unless your part of that scene is like banging your head against a brickwall. If you live in London or New York you're lucky anyway. |
Brooklyn is a lot of tight pants and even tighter parties. Good times.

unless it's one of the few parts where all the *gasp* black people still live. |

don't hate on the tight pants! |
Nah I don't. But it's funny when everyone is trying so hard to outdress the next person but they actually have a really similar style. Plus, if i had worn tight pants to Lightning Bolt, i'd of passed out in the rioting, sea of people.
|
I used to have a pair of jeans that were really tight. They were just too small for me and I never got around to buying a new pair. I must have looked like an asshole.

The music scene isn't that bad. There's quite a few things upcoming...Derrhoof/Kit in June...Dead Meadow/Vetiver/PG Six in August...Indian Jewelery on Sunday...some improve thing in June in a church. And tonight there is Ignatz/Arrington De Dionyso/Motorghost...Buffalo Bar...doors...err, probably about 8:30 or something. Check it out: ![]() The music scene isn't amazing or anything but I reckon it's better than similar sized cities in England in a lot of cases (Leicester where I used to live is pretty much the same size as Cardiff and not as good music wise I don't think). There are a handful of promotors doing ace stuff (Forecast, Fagclub, Fourier Transform, Lesson No1)..check it out dude. |
Yeah i've been to the odd good gig. But for the most not a great deal is happening inside Cardiff itself. Its not that bad for the cities size. My point was really about people complaining nothing is going on in London. When we dont have half what they have in London. For obviously reasons. Lucky Bastards.
|
I've been to LOADS of great gigs, and yes a few of them were in london, but 75% of them were here in Birmingham. And no i wouldn't pick to live here if i could choose but at the moment i have to. NYC is fantastic, but its too expensive for most people and i like living in a house and having a garden.
|
New York is Great, but it is not feasible financially. So I am here in Los Angeles, which isn't half bad if you think about it.
|
Any place will only be what you make it.
|
I'm a left-coast guy and have never been to NYC.
I'm going to the Daydream Nation show there at the end of July though. :D no longer will I be a live Sonic virgin! the shame is ending! |

I lost my live sonic virginity when I was thirteen. |
That's quite shockingly young. I don't think I even had them kind of thoughts when I was that young.
|
I probably wasn't ready. Perhaps if I would have waited it out I would have appreciated it more..
It was great, though. |
i lost my live sonic virginity when i was 15, i don't think i was ready or well prepared.
|
I feel like such a prude now. :o

Same here. I wish I had waited for the "right gig." |
now I'm a little nervous about what might be in store.
I hope they're gentle with me. |
They were amazng live, I saw them on their RR tour, amazing.
|
Im seeing SY for the first time in london in september. My favourite band playing my favourite album...dreamy
|

ps - ha ha @ "waiting for the right gig" |
i'm disappointed to see how many of you lost your sonic virginities so early. that explains why you're all such sonic whores now.
HAHAHAH!!!! get it?! |
