I saw J. Mascis today on a sidewalk...

I was driving to the practice space today and I forgot Dinosaur Jr were here this week...I looked over at The Triple Rock sidewalk as I drove by and thought for a second 'he looks familiar' then I realized it was him.

Then I felt sad that I couldn't go see them tonight.

Danny Himself 05.30.2007 07:58 PM

Lucky you!

King_Buzzo is on vacation, so he'll yell at you later.

Pax Americana 05.30.2007 07:59 PM

You should have whistled and cat called him.

"Hey sexy! Damn baby, you looking good. Back that ass up!!!"

I wonder what he would have done..?

CHOUT 05.30.2007 08:03 PM

It happened so fast, I woulda yelled something if I coulda thought of something.

Savage Clone 05.30.2007 08:03 PM

I had a Mascis sidewalk sighting today too. I work down the street from the Triple Rock and he walked on by the front window on his way down the street.
Too bad I'm not a fan. That would have been exciting had I been.
He looks pretty much exactly like he looks in pics.
I was like, "Huh. That was J. Mascis. I was wondering who the big bus down the street was for."

Where you working now? Landlord at the Crack Stacks?

Savage Clone 05.30.2007 08:08 PM

I work for the futon place down that way.
Usually I am assembling one in someone's home, but today I was at the shop most of the day.

Bicorn Halfelven 05.30.2007 08:16 PM

Hello, fellow minneapolitans...

Is Dino just hanging out for the week?

Shellac used our old practice space to bone up before they kicked their tour off here in MPLS... we used to share the space with a band who were friends with Todd.

Unfortunately, I was out of town that week, so I was unable to drop in on a rehearsal.

Did he appear as homeless as usual?

That's cool. We have a futon here and there in my own house.

max 05.30.2007 08:22 PM

damn, Chout!!! you should've shook hands!!!

Norma J 05.30.2007 08:29 PM

Why the need for the shaking of hands?

It wouldn't really bother me seeing J. Mascis walkin' down the street, to be honest.

Danny Himself 05.30.2007 08:31 PM

I'd talk to him just to hear his voice. Man. Anything that comes out of his mouth sounds hilarious.

CHOUT 05.30.2007 08:54 PM

I was just driving by.

All my back problems went away after I purged myself of my futon.

Nice, maybe you can fix mine, it just broke recently. Although I'm sure it's nothing a little gorilla glue couldn't fix. We were thinking of getting a couch, we saw this nice yellow velour (sp?) couch for $50 bucks, but it's a tough call, since we just spent about $100 bucks on a new futon cover (and that's after the sweet discount for know the guy who works there).

gmku 05.30.2007 09:55 PM

Hey, I saw him, too. On the street corner, leaning up against a building. He asked me for a quarter. I told him to get a job.

What an odd thing to write.

CHOUT 05.31.2007 02:11 AM

I was wishing I had one of my guitars with, because it is cheezy, but I woulda stopped and asked if he could sign it.

My roommate saw them the night before, told me they were playing some of the post-Lou songs from Green Mind etc...I didn't expect they would.

Yes, they did, when I saw them last year they played Feel the Pain ( good version), a post Green mind song, and they did the sound-checking on The Wagon.

Green_mind 05.31.2007 07:10 AM

Yeah, that's cool man, you should of got something else signed by him, like ripped your glove compartment door off or something.

sonicl 05.31.2007 07:12 AM

I saw some chewing gum on the pavement today. We call the sidewalk a pavement here. And we call the pavement a road.

"CUT YOUR HAIR, YOU OLD MAN!" would have been a nice choice.

We call pavement the band that made Slanted & Enchanted.

Are there any decent futons anymore that don't cost as much as a regular bed? In the 80's I used to buy futons that were like huge pillows, stuffed with down for like $150 or less, student budget, and lasted as long at leasta couple years. now I buy a futon and it gets all saggy in a few months it seems. Its all foam and fill.

I'm not even sure why I'm committed to futons, just habit I guess.

max 05.31.2007 11:22 AM

committed to futons - that's how you should name a book man!

Savage Clone 05.31.2007 02:22 PM

You can still get those all-cotton ones; the heavy old-school kind. They're actually the cheapest ones. I don't think they're as comfortable myself, but a lot of people seem to love those.
But yeah, most of the good ones really do seem to cost as much as a regular bed. Furniture just isn't cheap no matter what, it seems.
